An older couple in their late 40's- early 50's sitting next to us got up and left when we kicked the field goal to get the score to 14-13. This is not the first time I've seen people in this demographic leaving early in close games.

So to all you people bitching about how bad of fans the students are, and that we curse and leave early, at least we're not leaving the biggest game of the year, down 1, in perfect weather, in the 3rd quarter. I don't wanna hear another a-hole say we should sell the student tickets to the general public.

Maybe we should be more like fans for Da U and just not show up at all.

What you want to hear is sort of irrelevant. And if it's indicative of your intelligence that you think one middle-aged couple's behavior is comparable to, or constitutes a justification for, the vulgar behavior of you and 10,000 other drunken children, I predict that your status as an LSU student may not have a very long half-life.

I'm in that 40-50 range, and if I heard this I'd want to slap someone.

The students are the BEST part of the atmosphere.
I've got pregame pictures from yesterday where that section was packed while the rest of the stadium was near empty.
I've got some from after the game where the students were there in force long after the rest had left.
I actually heard people at the TAF tailgate making plans to leave at halftime to meet somewhere.

Students are the reason the school exists. The players are their classmates. This is their team.

Screw the old jagoffs that don't get it.

I sit next to student section. Although I would like the profanity turned down, that was the loudest I've heard this decade outside of the UGA 2003 and Florida 2007 games.

The students were loud and rambunctious and the rest of the crowd fed off of it.

Good work.

P.S. "All I Do Is Win" is probably the most awesome college football song being played right now.

We, by far, have the best band in the country.

All true (to an extent--the school exists to educate the students, not to indulge them). But none of it constitutes justification for behaving like vulgar jerks.

So what's worse, 10,000 students yelling at the top of their lungs screaming profanity, or 30,000 season ticket holders leaving during the 3rd quarter? Which is better home field advantage?

I agree. I wish they'd tone down the language as well. But when I was a student there, I was a vulgar jerk too.

Obviously you must have never gone to college if you can't read what I wrote dickwad. I said this isn't the first time that ive seen fans from this demographic do this. I don't even say the profanity with the rest of the students during the chants, I'm just defending the students as a whole from stiff-neck pricks like you who get on your high horse and talk down to us. Do I agree with all the profanity being said? No, but like many others have said there are tons of older folk around the stadium that say worse. A friend sat In the gold seats on the 50 yard line and saw a lady sleeping during the game. I think the targeting of the students at every turn is laughable.

It's a football game, not a broadway play. This is Baton Rouge, Louisiana. People get drunk. More specifically, this is the LSU Student section, 18-24 year olds.

Get over it. It has always been like this, and it always will be. If you don't like the atmosphere then stay home where it's nice and quiet for you.

ETA: Where do the players go to when they celebrate big plays, winning, etc....the student section. They must appreciate what the student section brings to the stadium.

Give me a comparison that is based on an honest representation of what happens and I'll think about it. But even assuming your less than honest hypothetical, it's close.

And yes, I'm a season ticket holder. And, yes, the tickets have been in my family for 50 years. And no, I don't leave early unless (i) the outcome of the game is decided, (ii) the weather is both cold and wet, and (iii) I need to pee really, really badly.

This season I have witnessed it. And with malicious intent behind it as opposed to a bunch of kids chanting.

Saw a guy yesterday screaming profanities at the top of his lungs yesterday at an Alabama fan 10 rows down. His wife/girlfriend was horrified and he was an embarrassment to us all. This is isolated of course, but way too common.

Saw some old fart at a tailgate in front of pleasant hall scream f*** Tennessee as some young guy and his girlfriend simply walked down the sidewalk.
