Lee isn't remotely close to the QB that Jefferson is/will be. Remember Lee was BEAT OUT for the starting job last year by Andrew Hatch.

And so was JJ, so whats your point?

And because of this, our coaches seem content to lose, rather than force another young QB into this situation.

I'd personally rather lose by a larger margin while trying everything possible to come back, as opposed to trying to protect a qb.

Actually, Lee was leading the competition before injuring his ankle in fall practice.

All the people are dissing JJ for no reason. He is a SOPHMORE, 9th start ever in the SEC vs. a UF team that has the #1 ranked defense in the NCAA.

By this time last year Lee had 6 INT's. (how many of them were pick 6?)

I wouldn't mind seeing the Jefferson/Lee combo much like the Flynn/RP one-two.

You are CORRECT, sir. Anyone posting to the contrary is an idiot. Next topic.

I'm tired of all the "pick 6" bullshite. Pick 6's are rare as hell. He had only two that I remember as legitimate pick 6 throws, Auburn and the first one against GA. The others were down the field where our guys failed to tackle. They are anomalies. It wouldn't happen again.

But here's the real point I want to make. I'd rather have a kid at QB that is trying to make plays and isn't afraid to make mistakes than one that is petrified to make one. The reason JJ hasn't thrown more picks is because he's afraid to throw the fricking ball! At least Lee threw it. With the mental state that JJ is in right now, he's killing the team. He won't even throw it away to avoid the sack, he just takes the sack. Ridiculous. Brett Favre has led the NFL in pick 6's a few times, but I'd rather have Favre than Trent Dilfer. Give me the gunslinger, I'll live with the ramifications.

J Lee was a FRESHMAN last year. He is a SOPHOMORE this year. Why not give him another shot? You never know. He deserves another shot especially since JJ is not making much progress.

i agree, our d is putting us in position to win and we cant score, just change something add a spark see what happens.. give lee a series see how the defense reacts, see how our offense reacts, even see how jefferson reacts.. i mean really why not?

Why is everyone so convinced that if Lee plays, the exact same thing that happened last year would happen again?

In the spring game JLee didn't show improvement, he showed the same from last season.

Then there was this during fall camp...

quote:

LSU's scrimmage Saturday offered some clues -- one disquieting, the other heartening -- about how the Tigers may fare this fall in the critical area of quarterbacking. Sophomore Jordan Jefferson threw two scoring strikes to senior wide receiver Brandon LaFell, one of 40 yards and another of 2 yards, Coach Les Miles said. Sophomore Jarrett Lee, on the other hand, threw two interceptions.

Agree with all those calling for Lee to get some playing time.
As for all those posting useless reminders of how Lee threw a bunch of pic 6's last year, untill he throws a pic 6 THIS year........STFU!!!

34 points? Really? Not giving our defense much credit still? You really think Lee's gonna throw 4 pick six's in 2 quarters of play? Interesting.

Agreed, and there was little effort to tackle DBs after the pics. Byrd had 2 bounce off his hands before being intercepted, and he made no effort to tackle the DB.

I find it humorous and somewhat hypocritical that you attempt to defend JJ and "Diss" on JL with this pathetic reasoning.
Let’s compare! JJ played all 4 years of high school football right?
JL started playing football his sophomore year right?
Is it really fair to judge JL as hard as he has been judged on this board. From what I’ve seen of his critic’s, most have never stepped foot on a football field much less played the game. Some of the most stanch critics of JL are nothing more than over opinionated smartasses who think their opinions should be law. If you’ve never played the game, what on earth qualifies you to comment on any aspect of it? JL made some bad decisions we can all agree on that, but, get off of the kid’s back. He is just a kid that was thrown into the fire. I for one think he deserves another chance. I’m not advocating benching JJ because he seems to be struggling right now. All I’m saying is; if JL can prove himself in practice, that he has the ability to read the defense, pick up on the open receivers, throw the ball accurately and make good decisions under pressure better than JJ, then why shouldn’t he get the chance in the game?

Agreed! I wish they would create a board for those who have played at least 3 yrs of HS football and understand what it's like to get your arse busted or play in pain. Seventy five percent who post here never played organized football and are experts from watching or playing EA football. Debate would be much more relevant and and based on our collective experiences.
This board loves to make fun of players and criticize coaches.Would love to get the opinions of former Tigers and college players.
Too damn many former flute and piccalo players here.
