If Lee starts this game, we are down 34-3 at halftime.

All the people are dissing JJ for no reason. He is a SOPHMORE, 9th start ever in the SEC vs. a UF team that has the #1 ranked defense in the NCAA.

By this time last year Lee had 6 INT's. (how many of them were pick 6?)

I wouldn't mind seeing the Jefferson/Lee combo much like the Flynn/RP one-two.

ok, 65-3 or 6-3 - what the hell is the difference - you have to take shots down the fiels to utilize the WR's. Obviously they will not let JJ throw the ball over 5 yds.

Why is everyone so convinced that if Lee plays, the exact same thing that happened last year would happen again?

We wouldn't be in the shootouts like last year because our defense is improved. He has likely improved after another spring and the experience gained last season. He could have learned from his mistakes, we have no idea. I'm not calling for him to start, but think it is foolish to assume he would repeat last season's freakish debacle.

lee is a better qb than jj.jj is just an athlete we tried to make into a qb.he will never have great success in the sec.if we have a 2 qb system,it should be lee and shepard.lee in i form(play action, deep pass),shepard in the spread(misdirection runs, zone reads, short passes)

That is the same story or Lee last year. Yea he was doing worse, but same situation.

109th in total offense. QB is clearly a major part of that. The only way we get better is if the coaching staff admits it and gives someone else a shot.

It's possible that we are up 21-10 at halftime if Lee starts. You just don't know.

This is exactly what people did to Lee last year. Our defense couldn't get off the field and everyone blamed a RS Freshman QB that was playing from behind a lot in big games.

i do not agree that we would have been down by 31 pts at halftime. not only is your assertion ridiculous, but last years stats do not validate that or even close. if you can't see that JJ is not moving the offense, you can't see very well. i think that JL should, in the future, be given some snaps to see if he can run the offense better. just the way it is, my friend. the QB is responsible for running the offense. there may be other reasons he is not being successful, but you can't prove a single one (as a fan). JJ had time to throw the ball most of the time saturday night. our OL may not be great, but he takes too damn much time to locate receivers. yes, i'm glad he hasn't thrown pick 6's, but whats the difference in the overall scheme of things? we cannot continue to rely on the defense to score points; it's the job of the offense to do that.

Our offensive line is not the best, but they are decent.

It's time to admit that JJ makes this offensive line looks terrible, especially when he takes all those sacks instead of stepping up in the pocket.

Lee was a redshirt freshman and put points on the board.

Lest everyone forget - when you play with a fr/so quarterback in the SEC you are spotting the other team 14 points from mistakes. Your defense has to be good enough to compensate. That's just the way it is. Don't believe me? Look at Matt Mauck, JaMarcus Russell and of course Lee. Mauck and Russell came back from terrible underclassmen performances and became good quarterbacks. Heck, Lee's stats were as good as Tommy Hodson's freshman stats, except for the pick 6's.

JJ clearly is not playing fast enough right now. Either he isn't mentally ready to be a starter, yet; or the coaching staff is holding him back. Right now it is probably a little of both.

If the offense can put points on the board with Lee under center, then you put Lee in the game. Our defense is not going to put Lee in the positions that he was in last year. Lee isn't going to be forced to play balls to the wall in shootouts having to go for broke every play. That's where he found himself last year.

Play Lee against Auburn and see where he can take you.

Tebow won the Heisman as a sophmore. I'm not saying JJ should be held to that standard, but "being a sophmore" is not an excuse for sub-par performance. He's not improving at all. If anything he's getting worse and he's losing confidence. I'm not sure if it's a Gary Crowton problem or a JJ problem.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to go down this road yet but I can sure tell you I have thought about it.

I'm calling bullshite on this post. JJ was ineffective. Put Lee in a series. If he throws another int, pull his arse. Until he throws another one in a completely new year, that is just speculation. At least JJ has a chance to breathe and look at the field from a different angle while we are on offense.
