You don get his number of takeaways from Not trying to do what he is doing. That's like wanting to run Richardson half as much and expect the same results

Not quite. There is a time an place for taking risks. Not sure how that compares to a RB. TM is fine, think he just tried too hard to make the big play yesterday while overlooking the things that make a good DB a good DB. It's one game, not the end of the world.

A better comparison is running the ball regardless of down an distance. You do not do the same thing in every situation. You have to make smart plays and things like this, while meaningless against Tennessee, could result in an L against a team like Bama. If he tries to strip Trent he is going to get plowed and watch him break a huge gain as he watches while laying on the turf.

Holy shite balls we allowed 7 points yesterday...I dont think TM7 trying to strip the ball (which has worked out the majority of the time) is hurting the fricking defense.

he has the school record for fumbles and its only halfway through his sophomore year (and he didnt even start at the beginning of last year), yet you stupid frickers want him to stop trying to strip the ball just because he didnt get a strip 2 or 3 times yesterday?

our fanbase makes me want to all day long at this point

I haven't seen anyone say he should stop trying for strips. Just saying there I a time an place for it. I am going to guess that you got annoyed when we tried to run it up the gut a thousand times when it obviously wasn't working out. That is the same concept we are employing. Strip the ball once a second defender gets there for the stop. Playing solid D comes first. Our D is so good we don't need to get a lucky strip to win but it would be a bonus if it happens. Wrap up first. Try for the turnover second. A good comparison would be if a corner tries to cut off a route for a pick everytime that is not good D. It is only called for in certain situations.

i agree. He should try it almost every single time he tackles someone

no it isn't. That is a terrible comparison, especially with how successful he has been.

we are so good because we force turnovers. Turnovers completely change games

no, that is still a terrible comparison

I disagree. He should do it every single time he is able to and so should everybody else. We can live with a few failed attempts that result in more yards given up

coaches should take care of that in film this week.

How do you know the coaches aren't coaching him to strip the ball?

Seems kind of like he is worried about the glory of the turnover instead of playing good defense.

If true, coaches will address during film study.

But, come on...

Criticizing the Honey Badger! He has only played well enough to get Heisman mention on a weekly basis. Not good enough for you?

i agree. Our D is so good that we can stop them if they manage to get a 1st down out of it once in a while. Turnovers are the most important thing in a football game

Yeah, there were a couple of problems...trying to strip the ball instead of tackling...pass interference. For sure wasn't his best and I'm sure in the film room he'll hear about it.

Maybe he needs to rest his MOUTH and just play football.

But...but...that's just who he is! He can't possibly be as effective unless he talks trash 101% of the time!! He's obviously being influenced by all the media attention being thrown his way now.

It's simple. He can't take what he wants unless he attempts to take what he wants. Some fans seem to expect perfection from our LSU players.

He needs to play a bit smarter. The PI call before UT scored...was a 3rd down and if he makes the tackle instead of going for the knock down...they kick a FG.

I kept complaining everytime they would mark us short and give them 2 foot. I thought we got in two times when we settled for the field goal right before half.

OP is dead on.

HB has been reading his press clippings. He gave up a first down to DaRick by giving him 6 extra yards after contact while trying to strip, and then DaRick got another 10 on the long pass play.

He needs to tackle first and strip when the opportunity arises. Did not like seeing that.
