I don't have a replay, but I recall Tennessee had the ball and we had two timeouts with about a minute to play. I was thinking we should call a timeout or two and force them to punt. A blocked punt or a good return could have led to points and momentum. Was anyone else thinking this?

Yes I said the same thing. Another stupid decision.

with everything else that happened i totally forgot about that. we could have had tenn. punting with about 35 seconds left. put everyone on the line and go for the block. there is nothing to lose. miles sucks.

It was 1:46. Not enough time with just 2 time outs. I was pissed at first, but did the math.

With a good offense you trust, this makes sense. But there was no reason to think our O would be able to do much of anything. And if you call TO and UT winds up converting the 3rd down, you hand them time and field position to do something. I think it was the right call given the situation.

It was third down. Why would we allow them to not punt to Peterson?

I said the same thing. Then I laughed when I realized who we had at QB and said, "well, for any other team in America, that's the way to play it."

Tennessee's offense was struggling too. I'm not saying our offense would've been able to move down quickly to score, just saying that we could have forced them to punt and setup a return for PP.

They had really poor field position and Tenn has no confidence in their kicker as evidence from later in the game. As such, you call the timeout, hope for a stop, call another, and force a punt out of them.

Hell, we could have let a lot of time wind off the clock and still accomplished this, even if we were worried about them converting the third down.

I thought it was 1st with 1:46...

I lost all sanity though later in the game so I could be way off.

go for a all out block rather than a return. blocking it would have given us great field posistion. there is not one reason not to at least try it.

Exactly. Even if you rough the punter, so what?
