Me, mom and older brothers GF (now wife) moved him into North stadium in August. Mom and GF cried all the way home.

Lived in North and West Stadiums 1947-49, Two double bunk beds in each room floor 1-3, Floor 4 had only three occupants since the rooms became smaller as you approached the top of the stadium. There were also some inside areas which were used for storage. A single light bulb extending from the ceiling illuminated a studying table between the bunk beds on each side of the room. In the summer there were small flying insects that would penetrate the screened windows. A handy Flint Gun with an experienced shooter would eliminate them as they circled the light bulb. (being careful not to hit the bulb too strongly preventing its explosion). Waking up in the morning to the roar of Mike who was just across the street. Most of the occupants where veterans returning from WWII, who were dead serious about their studies and not interested in social life eg.fraternities and such. Walk down the stairs to the game on Saturday nite and watch Y.A. Tittle and Piggy Barnes perform. In retrospect, these are pleasantly memorable days.

My grandfather also stayed in the stadium dorms for a few months prior to being deployed to Europe.

My grandfather was a freshman at Princeton in 1943 and that same year he enlisted and left for the 99th Infantry division. Sometime between basic training and being deployed to Europe his company stayed in the Tiger Stadium dorms for a few months.

My sister and I both attended LSU and my grandpa would always remind us of the fact that he stayed there in the football stadium with the army during the Second World War.

He was one of the few survivors from his company in the Battle of the Bulge. He luckily survived and I am here today because of it. He died in 2011.

I was doing some research a few years ago and found an unknown WWII veterans personal war story that was published online for a 99th infantry veterans webpage. There is an entire section where this veteran describes his time at LSU prior to being deployed to Europe. Please note that I do not know the person who wrote the story. Just thought people on here might enjoy reading the part about LSU. See link below.

Notice the window unit air conditioners. I think those came along after the dorms was closed. This pic was from around 2010:
