As you know, it actually was a brilliantly conceived idea by Mr. Long to get the expansion.

The East Upperdeck wasn't built in 1971-72. It was built for the 2000 season.

Great pictures. Loved the dorm stories too.
Except for bowling in the south endzone 22 years before this picture was taken and not matching the rest of the stadium. The stadium is looking great right now.

If only they knew then what we know now. If only the east and west additions could have been built like the SEZ addition...
..if only.
..if only.

Love that damn stadium. Although it has imperfections, its got a hell of a lot more than most as far as history and an aura unmatched by almost any event place in the world.
Plus its what's inside that matters right? Like the 102,000 coonasses that fill it on Fall Saturday nights..

Totally Agree, It's sad that Tiger Stadium looks like a Frankinstein structure.
There has been some cleaning done, (thank goodness) But The North and West Stadium inside is OLD... its time to put the money in on remodeling the inside of the stadium... do something for the fans LSU. All the money they generate with ticket sales and TAF its time to make the inside of the corriors.
Chair Backs in the Endzones, would look great... 1 year of Tradition fees pays this easily. But sadly I don't see LSU doing it.
LSU has more money then ever, and the vision for TS is blur.

Great pics by the OP! Enjoyed hearing about those years as a resident of the stadium as well. Sounds brutal but still cool that y'all can say you lived in the stadium!
I wish they could do something to incorporate the coliseum type look that's on the north end, around the entire stadium. Those big squared off entrances on the west side ldont fit in with anything.
Question for the original poster. What was the gray looking structure that's about two stories tall just above the old structure? Was that some type of press box or some other type of seating? Doesn't look like it's part of the upper deck being built.

If you mean this...
...that was the old press box. Was grand for it's day...

Looking through what? You may need to explain what a slide is?
