I say we do damage in the tournament this year, elite eight in the NCAA tourney at least. This team is good and will only get better.

I like your optimism, but I still think we are a year or two away from being able to pull off that kind of season. I do agree that LSU basketball is on the rise and that this team is very good. CJJ is tearing it up in recruiting and already has the team light years ahead of what we've seen the years before him. I think we make the tournament but I just don't know about Elite 8 this year.

I was at LSU in the early 80's when the team was badass. I see a return to that type of production in this team. We may be a year or two out like you said. I am just pumped that LSU basketball is definitely back.

I have us going on a run next year with a mix of great incoming freshmen and experienced upperclassmen. I think we make the tournament this year, but I'm not sure how far we'll go.

Sorry, I forgot I was in the rant where optimism can often be met with vitriole. This team is good and a run wouldn't surprise me. March is a ways off and we will get better.

I share the OP's optimism. I think this team can reach the Sweet 16, but if not, this is at least a Tourney team for sure.

That wasn't vitriole. You should slow your roll. It's very early.

Making it to the 2nd round would be optimistic. Saying we hold A&M to under 40 points today is optimistic.

Predicting this team to make it to the elite eight AT LEAST after 4 games is just silly

Exactly, this team has all the makings of very good team with good coaching and will get better. All you have to do is make the tournament, which we will; Then it's a new season. With our talent and coaching we can go far.

I think this team will have to wait till next year to make the Tourney. To expect the elite 8 is more wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong this team has the players now to compete but I have to see them play against SEC and better competition before I can give a thumbs up. As the old saying goes we are not as good as we think we are.

If by elite 8, you mean last 8 in the tourney or last 8 out of the tourney, I agree. If by Elite 8 you mean one of the last 8 remaining in the big dance, you've got to be at least 1/3 retarded.

I'll have what Tom's having....... Def a tournament team but it's about match ups after that for us. We still have much room to improve to beat good teams. But it's going to be fun .....

I think the problem is that our current fanbase is so unused to seeing ANY actual talent on the team, after the joke that was Trent Johnson's recruiting. That, coupled with the conference's current decline in competitiveness in basketball overall vs the other power conferences. For that, you can be forgiven

We appear to have a good team, one that should have an impact in conference play, and should make the NCAA's if things pan out. We're no longer a total disaster of a program. We shouldn't be totally embarrassed if we get matched up against a tourney-level team from the ACC, B1G, or Pac 12. For that, I'm grateful, and I hope for continued improvement.

Elite Eight? Hey, anything's possible, but remember Stromile's teams never got past the round of 16, and he, Marcus Dupree and Torris Bright were as good/better than anyone on this current team.
