The correct answer is “I would be happy to tip if these prices weren’t 300% higher than what they should be.”

By checking your bank account?

Most of the concession stands are run by student clubs and organizations to raise money. Once LSU takes their cut, the rest goes to the club. I’ve worked entire weekends for an entire stand to net maybe $400. The tips don’t go to individuals.

The work is not worth the return. Some people treat you like garbage.

And when no one wants to work that crap job anymore, you won't have any concessions.

I feel like so many counter serve and even fast food type places ask for tip now when you pay.

Guilty as charged I usually select the 10% option

I usually ask if they’re with a group. Sometimes it’s a local school band, math group, chess club, etc. I will always give them some extra if so.

nonsense.

Kids would line up to do it, even at minimum wage. It's not like the job is cracking rock down in the coal mine.

I have always been a really good tipper, but if they ask me as this guy did i would have said no tip. But the i would have said, here is a tip for you “if you would not have asked me, i would have given you one”. So dont ask or put a tip jar on counter.

Makes me wonder if the concession stand workers are being paid server rates rather than minimum wage or higher. Server rates are what most waiters and waitresses receive and they're considerably lower than minimum wage with the expectation that the difference is made up via tips. If that's how the workers are being paid, it's news to me.

So, say you gave a $3.00 tip. Just how many j’s extra did you get? Maybe 2 or 3? That’s some spensive jala’s right there.
