Do you feel the same way about sales positions and commission? Honest question

Yes. It made no sense to me. They are providing no seevice other than scanning cards

When you buy something, do you get a sales slip? If not, how do you know they didn't put a tip on it?

I've tipped at the LSU concessions, I assumed it went to the organizations working the booth. I'd like them to benefit from it and keep working.
I do think everyone asks for tips on these credit card machines now, I mean it's probably smart. Easy way to make some extra money.

I can understand your point but they pay these people trying to make a living Pennies to do their job.. got to have some feelings towards them…just sayin’..
They should raise their prices then.

Right..
So why are the people in this thread blaming the cashier for the fault of the system
Restaurant tip systems should have been destroyed years ago

That's different, in one scenario your getting more awesome fries, in the other situation it means I pay more for nothing and it goes to a person just doing the job they're already paid to do. When I bagged groceries as a teen, if someone wanted to tip great, if they didn't I sure didn't ask. If someone wants to ask "IF you'd like to tip" that'd be better "How much would you like to tip" is pushy and kinda rude
I’m trying to say that you can’t blame him for asking. The tip thing is in everything today even a damn convenient store in sone cases. I was referring the “asking” for it by relating it to McDonald’s

It's commonplace nowadays and it's stupid.
It's because the same point of sale pay app everyone uses these days has it on there. Doesn't matter if it's at the barber or at the LSU game concession stand. Only difference is I'll leave a tip after getting a hair cut.
I'm old enough now that I give zero shits about anything anymore so I hit no tip and look the concession stand worker in the eye while I do it.

Huh? The sale commission is baked into the price of the food. This is precisely what he’s wanting and the antithesis of tipping.

Bar tenders, servers, waitresses make $2 an hour they need tips to pay bills. Everyone else makes more per hour, so it should be at the individuals discresion.

It is out of control..I did during covid but have stopped at take out .. or mostly self serve..
They started that tip game at football and had a can and would shake it in your face and say you forgot .. they want cash and no it does not go to organization.. I had enough when at a bball game it became let’s make a deal… they guy said he would throw in the peanut mm box if I gave him a big tip… he said 30 percent and he would make it up.. I look at the stand and if they have a tip jar I walk right by and no I do not tip at all at the concession anymore.. they pmo..
I reported the scam group to an Aramark guy at the game… he was furious and said point to the stand please and I need to go have some conversations…

Pay cash and they won’t ask.

You’re already paying far more than that for the items. Unfortunately it’s the actual workers who rarely see any of the profits as it’s all gobbled up by overpaid executives and shareholders.

During football season this year in the south end zone the girl working the self checkout beer station had a tip jar out between the 2 registers. Like a clear jug with a lid with a hole in the top. Had some cash in it, and was decorated with paint pen saying her name's tip jar. Her only job was to remind people to unscrew their caps.

Just curious how many people tip for to go orders from a restraunt? Upvote yes i tip down vote no
Posted on 2/22/22 at 5:24 am to LSUsmartass
I don’t tip them. Concessions are already expensive enough
Posted on 2/22/22 at 6:57 am to LSUsmartass
it is the software they are all using. It has to have a value input on the tip line. No harm in saying no. Most places I know just put 0 in it and make you sign. It is always better to tip in cash anyway

I don't like the idea AT ALL of tipping for to go orders. I'll take care of my waiter/waitress when we go out, or tip the pizza guy well. The customer should always be given a way to buy a restaurant's food without feeling obligated to tip.
You have to be careful with not tipping at restaurants, though-even on take out. BELIEVE ME if you are a regular customer, the staff knows who tips and doesn't at every food place from pizza delivery to restaurants. Some of these workers will screw with your food if you stiff them repeatedly.
When I do get takeout, I try to go to places where I can watch them make my food, like Jersey Mike's. It's just too risky otherwise.
