Offensively, thus far against weak competition, it looks better but Lee had some very good game in a run first offense in '11. Defensively this '13 team can't hold a candle to that '11 D.

UGa, Ole Miss, aTm and Bama are all capable of beating us. Will we put up a donut against those 4? Doubtful but possible. That D you talk about is very young and looks pretty vulnerable. We have a zero turnover ratio an only three takeaways thus far against pretty bad competition.

as long as bama doesn't win it all, i'm fine with any record. i'm just tired of them... now it's to the point they are getting our state's best players (legally or illegaly)

While I'd love to agree with you, this team has nothing on the 2011 D. People underestimate the speed duo blitz on TM7 and Ron Brooks, plus the significantly better DE speed/play, and a stronger Safety by far than anything we have on this team.

Our defense in 2011 was an A+ caliber, and this one so far is far from that level - I'd put them at about a B or B-, with the change to rise to A- or to fall to the C level after UGA and others truly test us..

The good news is that the Offense will be about an A- or A caliber, whereas the 2011 offense was in the B- to C- range...

I think we can win it all also if we escape Athens in good shape (win or a promising looking performance with a loss in that tough environment)

Disagree. Think Mett, Hill, receivers, OL, Cam Cameron make this one better. Those areas are waaaaay better than 2011. Overcomes areas 2011 was better at.

Obviously the 2013 offense is better but I don't think there is much of a comparison between the defense and special teams. Those areas would go to 2011 at this point by just as wide of a margin as the offense to 2013.

There is still a long way to go, hopefully the defense and special teams improve.

I think we lose 3. Before season was saying 4. Feeling a little better but defense hasme concerned still and there is no way that a team with any questions on defense can make it through this schedule unscathed.

Reality Check. LSU has beaten 3 middle of the road teams (I'm being generous) quite handily. We have been dominant. But except for UGA and aTm, our friends in the SEC West (UA and UM) have been about the business of winning versus a stronger level of competition. And UGA and aTm have nothing to be ashamed of; they are still very tough. But that is not to say LSU cannot compete. It is to say I'm not ready to project us into the BCS championship based on these first three wins. There's lots of ground to cover yet. And a very tough SEC schedule yet to be played. Even so, I say...

ole miss has played Vandy, SE Missouri St and Texas, and was fortunate to beat Vandy...wouldn't exactly call that a "stronger level of competition"

So an SEC team and a storied football program are about equal with UAB and Kent State? Hmm.

Not much difference in those two and Vandy/SE Missouri St.

Texas is a dumpster fire right now, had LSU faced Ole Miss' schedule, to date, you wouldn't know anything more than you know about them now...that was my point

frankly, I think it's foolish to try to predict what a team can or cannot accomplish but anyone with a brain knows we are in for some real battles this year.

quote:

I think this team OVERALL is better than 2011

quote:

Any other advantages that team had defensively over this one are surpassed by the advantage this one has on offense (esp Mett and Hill).

Mett seems to have turned the corner in a big way but he has not completed one pass against an SEC defense. yet, we all know that should change the first time we touch the ball next week. our pre-season schedule is finished and now the real work begins.

get better, get ready...get even.

Our offense looks so good, it's hard to gauge the defense if that makes sense.

I bet if we had the same coordinator on offense this year, everyone would be saying how fine our defense is and how much our offense sucks.

When the starting defense suits up for sec play and all the tinkering is done, they will be fricking good.

they have to play 5 of the current top 21 teams, so theres a lot to still do.

When does LSU not have to play multiple top 25 teams? Happens every year, why is this still a thing? Miles Tigers rise to the challenge all you negatigers

I am predicting 3 - 4 losses. GA, OM (maybe), BAMA, & A&M. Offense will keep us in every game. Defense is talented but inexperienced IMO. Still Love my Tigers!

Not even close.

Bookmarked for after we drop a few games. We have some serious issues on defense and we play at least two teams with offenses as good, or better, than LSU's and 4 teams who can outpace our offense on any given night.

And all our punter does is shank punts right now.

you won't have to bump it, the OP is setting up this prediction so that he can blame Miles if the team doesn't win it all. At that point, he'll then state that anyone who claims schedule, injuries, youth, etc. were tough to overcome is a loser who accepts mediocrity.
