the Bengal Tiger in Louisiana Military Heraldry goes back to 1838 with the establishment of the Washington Artillery of New Orleans...
on top of that, they are insulting the Flying Tigers who defended people of another race (Chinese) and the memories of soldiers killed at Anzio and in Iraq and Afghanistan...

Well, first off, they did not research what they are petitioning because they are completely wrong in their facts. Our mascot predates the Civil War
LSU's mascot came from the 141st Field Artillery Regiment, Washington Artillery. Yes they served with the CSA when Louisiana seceded from the Union. More importantly this unit was part of the US Army long before and long after the civil war.
I wish these people woul at least get the facts straight.
