He would be listed as a Sophomore but Les will have to sell LSU and this offense to him. I do not have my hopes up! Crowton would have to go in order to land anyone.

on the way to spring break in a bar in valdosta (underage) he touched a young lady in an inappropriate fashion. the law was involved.

he has 3 playing years of eligibility

What this means is...Les will continue to play the 2 OB system next year with seniors JJ and JL. Mettenberger will only see the field in mop up duty, which won'y happen because LSU won't be blowing anyone out next year.

So in closing,,,he only has 2 years of eligibility.

So you guarantee a few run-ins with the law--is this what some Auburn fans guaranteed would happen if they signed Newton? We're not recruiting members to a Cub Scout troop, we're recruiting football players. This may be the best chance the Tigers have to land a QB that can make them a threat to win the SEC & BCS--enough other pieces appear to be in place.

I liked what I was hearing about LSU's recruiting efforts on him until I read Crowton tagged along on the visit. We want to encourage Mettenberger, not discourage him.

I think Mark Richt said after the fact, he wished he would have waited to make his decision on the kid. I hope the kid comes to LSU, give him a second chance I think he has alot to offer at LSU. I hope he has learned his lesson, and whatever he did to that young lady he never does that again. I am sure that all of the players in college football are Angels.

If he comes to BR, you can guarentee a few run ins with the law.

Grabbing poon in a bar doesn't guarantee additional criminal activity. It's not like he stole a laptop or anything...........

Mett will NOT be RP 2.0. neither in his playing style nor his attitude. put him in a pro-style play-action type offense and he will be a very successful passer.

also, he was very rough his first semester, but worked HARD on conditioning and footwork and was very impressive in spring. so the kids not averse to being coached and putting in the work.

he seems to be a cool cucumber and a natural leader. he went into spring with murray as a clear number two (mett was a clear number two, that is), and at the end of spring had probably outplayed murray, who has played VERY WELL this fall.

his transgression was an anomaly and pure college boy hijinks. not a 'bad' bone in his body.

Ask Auburn and Ole Miss about their "refuse" problems. They're making out like teamsters.

Thanks for that summary, miledawg. Nice to know he worked hard on conditioning & footwork. I know he is considered a drop back passer--is he very mobile, say more mobile than J. Lee?

and look at his issues:
quote:

The dismissal apparently is related to Mettenberger’s March 7 arrest outside a bar in Remerton, which is near Valdosta. Mettenberger, 18, was charged with underage possession/consumption of alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstruction and two counts of having false identification .

I did all of the above, at least once a month in college, and I turned out pretty well...i think. uh, wait, self-examination and reflection kicking in. naah, i'd have been a fine sec qb if i were remotely talented.

bear in mind, RP shite was not an isolated incident. he was given chance after chance to get his shite skrate. this kid will be on a short leash and hopefully appreciates that. plus, he's white. that's a joke, so chill PC police.
