"I have to have a fundamental quarterback coach," Miles told a gathering of various media. "A guy who can take a quarterback and say, 'let's talk about your footwork, let's talk about your eyes, let's talk about where your hand (is), you're footwork, throwing motion, where you're shoulders are' ... all those things, and be able to dissect and improve comfortably without killing the 'comfort.
When Miles watched tape in preparation to play Oklahoma, he noticed how successful Tulsa was passing against the Sooners.
"His view of the passing game and decision-making to me is what, not only mechanics, is what every quarterback needs," Miles said. "I felt he could shortcut some of the elaborate thought process that was going on, make our guys quicker decision-makers. Being a quick decision-maker means the ball comes out of your hand in a timely fashion, which limits your sacks and gives you the best opportunity at a completion."
"He's a very strong in fundamentals coach. He'll improve our ability to throw. The main criteria for me in this hire was a fundamental football coach to be able to affect a quarterback's abilities to throw the football better, more accurately."
I have to believe Miles knows what he is doing and he will let "The Kreg" develop JJ into a very decent qb for LSU. And I really believe the LSU fans will be plesantly surprised.
People, forget the past. Look forward to a great season for LSU football and believe in " The Kreg" to put the working touches on JJ. I do.

It all sounds great... but until I see it translate on the field put me in the skeptical category.

but but but, Les just reads the funny pages and colors coloring books all day

You're gonna get slammed, but I concur. For all the people running around with their 4 - 14 talk, Simon made some plays on the ball that no other DB in the conference could have made...
IMO, he just needs to work on his placement and his reads a little bit more. We need another WR to step up so he doesn't have to force it to Randle in double-coverage.

Without a doubt Miles made the right move by bringing in a 'fundamentals' QB coach.
The only question is whether or not it helps JJ or if Crowton ruined him.

And you have reason to be skeptical. However, this is a bit deeper than "lip service" as hacks like GG would have you believe.

turning 4 TDs and 10 INTs in to 10 TDs and 4 INTs in one offseason would be a freaking miracle.
Im sure Krags is good, but he isnt God.

How about we give him a chance and then see......

Really? if you want to stick to that I guess I could research some for you. That's FAR from a miracle.

1. He's a senior
2. Miles ain't starting anybody over him unless he's injured
3. See 1 and 2

So if JJ tanks, its Crowtons fault? and if he succeeds, Kregs gets the credit?

I don't think it would be a miracle. And if we can get 10 tds and only 4 ints, I think we'd be in good shape to play for a title.

Not a fair comparison. Two different style coaches. Crowton played players. Krag teaches and coaches and plays them.

There's no way that Miles said that. It makes waaaay to much sense.

Well, he threw for 17 TD's and 7 INT's in 2009, so the question is, which JJ will we get?
If we can run effectively and have the season he had in 2009 as a soph, then we will be good to go.

This thought still gets passed around?

That's all you got? Glenn is that you?
To continue to repeat this makes you look really dumb. Do you really think that's the extent of our coach's thought process on the subject? so lame

Well beyond the "thought", JJ is a qb and having a senior qb play over a sophomore qb is pretty much a no brainer.

I think, to this point, he appears to be a good hire and seems to be having an impact on the QBs play and who knows what 5 more months will do.
I don't understand the continual whing over the QB play as most everyone feels Kreg/Mett have upgraded the position and we should have better/more production no matter who plays, but each to our own.

Here we go again. Can't debate? Attack the poster. I think it's pretty safe to say that experience weighs heavy in Miles assessments of the QB's.
