Wow, should rename this site to the Melt...we go to Oxford, lose 2 games, we should have won all 3 games, but due to some not so good relief pitching and our clutch going out Sunday at the plate, you guys are throwing in the towel...how many of you were upset with CPM throwing Dikes under the bus? Well, now alot of yall are throwing the whole team under that same bus...you are like parents at a Little League game, got all the advice and know how, but you are too lazy to take the time to get out and help coach a team...
Let the coaches coach, and the players play...LSU baseball is still one of the best programs in the country, it's just that everyone is modeling their program after us and some are catching up to us...plus, when they see LSU on their schedule, you can bet your last dollar, that date is circled and kids bring their "A" when they play the best...

When LSU was the model program in the country, we had a lot of natural advantages. We took baseball more seriously than almost everybody else. We got the best players, had the best coach, and the game was designed so that we could impose our will and just mash other teams into submission.

Now things are changing and we're not adjusting. Schools take it more seriously. Talent is balancing out, overall management is better, and the most successful teams have adopted to the new rules. LSU still has the raw talent to reach Super Regionals and occasionally reach Omaha. But once we get there, things don't go our way, we press, and we get oucoached.

The UCLA CWS game is the textbook example of that. UCLA could barely hit the ball out of the infield and they beat us. Meanwhile, we're trying to hit tape measure home runs every time we step to the plate and the balls and bats are now rigged to keep that from happening. UCLA knew that and we didn't. So the UCLA pitcher kept everything high in the zone and we took the bait and lost the game. They refused to lay off the pitches. They refused to manufacture runs. UCLA did it, LSU made one mistake in the field, and the game was over.

And you can point to lots of other times when LSU appeared to have superior talent and did nothing with it. Stony Brook. Houston. TCU. And in most of those cases, LSU folded like a card table the first time they got punched in the mouth, and it got ugly early on.

Show him that a Rantard is nobody to mess with.

This is about where I figured we'd be as far as SEC wins/losses. The pre-season consensus was that our pitching would be solid and our hitting would struggle. The season to date has not played out quite like I thought it would, but the record is about what I expected.

11-10 overall, and 2-4 vs. the West leaders, both on the road, is not catastrophic.

I hope Cain practices how to execute base running in the offseason.

Fixed it for you. Cain has sent too many runners home on short hits to the outfield. Cain has made the opposing outfielders look better than they are and shortened innings for us this year.

long as cpm is the coach don't expect much

oh c'mon man. PM has done a damn good job at LSU. he's won a NC and consistenly fields top 10 teams.

it seems every time a team at LSU struggles the lynching party organizes. this team deserves a chance to work their problems out and so does PM.

We may be more seasoned at the plate next year, but I'd like to know who our other 2 weekend starters will be.

Real old news? Isn't that the point? LSU seems to be the only team not figuring it out. Are you not paying attention? That's why 2013 was such a wasted season. Because we're trying to hit 500 foot home runs every at-bat and only THREE home runs were hit during the ENTIRE CWS. Meanwhile, UCLA plays West Coast Weenieball (infield hit, stolen base, sacrifice bunt, sacrifice fly) and wins the championship.

LSU tries to steal a base and what happens? Literally 50 percent of the time they're either out on a pitchout or they get caught in a rundown because they broke for second on the pickoff throw.

So if "baseball is still baseball," then why the Hell are we so bad at the fundamentals that every good team knows what we are doing and our only answer is "swing harder and swing more often."

If you're talking about winning in Hoover, sure.

If you're talking about beating good teams after they get past Hoover, well..........
