Fans expect way too much from this young and inexperienced team. We took a huge hit last year. Let's give them a year at this level and see how they respond next year. Tiger Baseball fans expect way too much each year but that is expected Bc we got spoiled with a winning program. Wait till next year Bc this year basically is a practice session for these kids.

While I'll agree most of the team is young, they are better than they are playing.

I'm the last person who will dump on the team in any sport but I can't figure out how we can look so good against teams that are very good, and beat them, and then look so bad against other teams (midweek games in particular).

I don't get it.

I don't know if the players are overthinking it or what.

If you think that, then this entire thread is a joke.

not really, most I hear from knew this was a rebuilding year.

what most LSU fans DEFINATELY EXPECTED was a good pitching staff since most of the staff returned from last year and so say we have the best fricking pitching coach in college baseball. most LSU fans also EXPECT college level base running skills instead of continually watching this team run itself out of scoring opportunities.

I, for one, would have been damn satisfied with a team that pitched well, ran the bases well, committed few errors and struggled at the plate.

I am pretty happy with our hitting. sure, some games we suck but all teams have bad nights.

CPM doesn't know this. Should i tell him or do you want to let him know the new plan?

Basketball was supposed to rescue football, then baseball was supposed to rescue basketball. Now football is trying to rescue baseball. It's a vicious cycle--only this time our basketball isn't going to do anything special this year

Its going to be rough waiting for next years baseball to rescue football. Our only hope is that football will not need to be rescued.

There were going to be problems with the position players. That is a fact.

HOWEVER, there is no excuse for this team making the same mistakes it has been making for years:

1. too many runners being thrown out on the basepaths
2. complete and utter lack of ability to execute a hit-and-run against good teams because we have no ability to disguise it. Have you EVER seen a team lose the runner at 1st because they called a pitchout more than LSU has?
3. swinging at EVERY SINGLE FREAKING PITCH and giving the opposing pitcher six-pitch innings the moment we fall behind

These are the things you should not accept, and it is ALL attributable to a complete lack of discipline. And since the three things above have been happening for literally half a decade, you have to attribute it to bad coaching. And if the stupid hyper-aggression is part of a bigger "strategy," then OMG we are doing this shite on purpose?

Most true baseball fans didn't expect a run to the CWS this year unless this team improved and matured late in the season, which is still very possible. What is disappointing is how bad the bullpen has been at times. Most expected this team to have offensive troubles against good pitching. But most expected the pitching staff to give them a chance to win. Hard to win while giving up 5+ runs/game.

You mean don't expect to be a national seed 4 years in a row, make it to Omaha 2 out of those 4 years, then be in position to host a regional the year after losing 8/9 everyday starters? I realize CPM has his faults. I get aggravated just like everyone else, but you can't expect this year's team to win every series and dominate with such a young group. If the pitching turns around and the base running mistakes are minimized, this team can make a run. I'm not expecting it but it's happened before.

We all knew this team would take it's lumps. What we didn't know and what we thought would be the strongest by far position on this team, pitching is freaking terrible. Base running, no timely hitting and lack of what we thought would be a damn good pitching staff has let us down. This is our season in a nut shell.

We aren't getting out of a regional and if this slide continues we might not make it to a regional.
