The reason that this team looks promising is because Reath is a lot better than we might have anticipated. This team also has a good of veteran depth. Mays is going to be really good, especially if he can improve his shooting. Blakeney did a hell of job creating the offense and finding people whenever he was at PG.

Offense was not the issue last year. It was BS#25 and the lack of team defense.... 80 points to a DII or III team. Its going to be a long season again my friends. Hence why they are picked 12th.

Sounds like they are Kentucky without Kentucky talent

Even against an NAIA team we still exhibited classic infuriating characteristics of a Jones-coached team. Reath looked pretty good but again... an NAIA opponent. I like Victor obviously but we need more reliable post players for when he inevitably gets two quick fouls and has to sit for 15 minutes. Let's tap the brakes a bit.

Exactly. They looked every bit the part of a Johnny Jones coached team. The offensive philosophy is just to play fast. Apparently bad shorts are not only accepted, but encouraged. Reath and Epps won't have easy put backs against D-1 teams. Defense is still just optional.

LSU is at it's best when teams pressure them. That way they can play like a YMCA team. A few good pieces with an AAU coach on the sidelines. They'll get hot and win a few games they probably shouldn't, but overall be an inconsistent group. I don't really need to see a few games to reach a conclusion, as you said, many of the the same problems that have always been there under Jones were on display tonight.

It's hard to judge the team when they are missing 2 potential starters and a key bench guy and also playing a well undersized team.

Although there is still a lot of uncertainty, I liked how aggressive epps was on the boards and reath is going to at least be a decent shot blocker, which we didn't have last year. Also liked how Mays and Hayward looked for freshman.

Jenkins and Victor are both plus defenders. The team defense should get better with the return of those two.

I'm waiting on the big 7 footer to finally get his mind and body right to be a factor on this team. He could be a damn good center if he is motivated and believe in himself. 10 points and 10 rebounds would be a good step forward from him if he is capable.

Hopefully Jenkins is. We need perimeter defense in the worst way imaginable. We know what we're getting with Victor. A good rebounder, but not exactly a rim-protector.

I hope you arent talking about our bigs. We have zero depth at the position. Yeah the guys we have are older but thats it.

Ive been saying this for over a year now. This dude is a true PG. He will make this team better just by having someone being able to direct traffic and be a floor general. Will make some freshman mistakes but he is the real deal.

The only stat that mattered in that game last night was turnovers and LSU failed miserably.

When you turn the ball over like that you will not win any games of significance.

Is Reath's name pronounced doop or doo-wop? He's gonna be a fun player to watch this year.

For all you basketball haters, the big distraction is gone, and this team is full of shooters, and good size down low. The need to work on turnovers, and stupid passes, but they are pretty damn good

You forgot their biggest weakness under Jones.... they can't defend.
