Had to stand in a wedding last year during the bama game. I did not feel bad at all that every picture of me at the reception was Of me staring at my phone watching the game surrounded by the rest of the groomsmen including the groom.

Everyone here knows it never rains in tiger stadium. Well good thing, cause on Oct 6, 2007 I am waiting in the hotel room stressing about missing The kick off for florida, not MY wedding. Luckily God stepped in and sent a small storm towards destin. I got a call from the pastor saying we had to move the wedding up 45 minutes to beat the rain. PERFECT! Needless to say, we all made it to the reception and had a cold beverage ready to watch LSU take down Florida!

If it's for one of your close friends or family members, it should be.

I completely understand skipping some random cousins, co-workers, or casual friend's wedding for an LSU game, but a close friend/family member? No. That's pretty shitty.

One of my closets friends asked me to go to her wedding the day of the LSU-Kentucky game in 2007. I told her to tell me how it went when she got back from her honeymoon. She still claims that it's why LSU lost.

Meh, weddings are pretty meaningless, IMO.

To everybody not getting married, of course it's meaningless, but for the two people getting married, it's more than likely one of the biggest days of their lives. And if they are a close friend/family member, you should be there to celebrate with them. LSU has 7 home games a year. Hopefully your close friend/family member will only have one wedding.

A close friend/family member is one who knows you well enough to realize how important football is. They should also realize that Spring and Summer are perfectly good seasons in which to hold weddings. Having the want to unnecessarily ruin a weekend of football watching isn't pretty shitty, or even very shitty. It's totally shitty.

Spring? What about LSU basketball and baseball? What about fishing? How dare someone ask me to miss LSU basketball or baseball or a good fishing weekend to attend their wedding!

Summer? People take vacations during the summer? People go to the beach!

You can never cater to everyone's schedule.

You're starting to get the hang of this! (Although, I think fishing is kinda boring too but to each his/her own, I guess)

ETA: We had this discussion a few months ago and I'm not getting into again with Salmon. He thinks those that bitch about people getting married during LSU games are selfish assholes and I argue that those that get married during LSU games are in fact the selfish a-hole. Agree to disagree

That was a brutal thread!! It seemed to never end.

I couldn't be the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding a couple of years ago because she chose the day of the LSU Ole Miss game. It was her 3rd wedding anyway, so I didn't feel too bad!

my GF tried to drag me to some engagement party of a gal I don't even know.. needless to say I will be in Auburn Alabama this weekend.

Upon her telling me how selfish I was being, I reminded her that her friend was the one being selfish. After all it was her who sceduled an event that revolves around her getting attention on a day of the biggest regular season game the Tigers have played...hmmm... lets see... EVER..

7&0 Tigers @ 7&0 Auburn or engagement party?

Easy choice

I had the perfect wedding date, it was 6 weeks after the college world series ended, and I think 10 weeks before football.

My son could be born any day now.

My son was born via C-section on a day when LSU was hosting a Super Regional. The OB-GYN was a Tiger; the anesthesiologist was a Tiger; the stand-by pediatrician was a Tiger. Guess what they had on in the O.R. during the delivery?!!!

Salmon, I'm sorry, but you're wrong on this one. There are over 30 home baseball games. The PMAC doesn't hold over 90,000 people and the fans don't get truly fired up about basketball until March. You can fish any weekend. There are only 7 home games in a year.

There are 365 days in the year and there are 353 that do not fall on game day, 358 if you're looking at home games.
