I'm old enough not to require a LSU FB history lesson, and recall losing 30-35% in of games a few seasons wasn't worthy of termination.
In fact I'll say sometime this century the fanbase got a bit full of themselves and admin a bit too receptive to their tantrum.
Just because you "demand excellence" doesn't mean you'll get it, if not attempted to acquire it in a logical method.
Read that as not kneejerk firings with huge buyouts and no viable replacement for the coach who pretty much owns your record books, career W%, won NC, played for another, etc, etc.

All you know is winning. You don't have patience. You don't have the perspective that comes from years of sucking. So what do you do? You act as though a loss to Mississippi State represents an existential crisis. It's not.

I was around for the Archer years. I remember the loss to Ohio State in the last two minutes. I remember the Curley years. What you are saying is untrue, some of us don't want a return to those years.

LSU has recruited better then Mississippi State the past 4 years. There is no excuse to lose like that. NONE.

I've been around "since Hitler was a road guard" , and if you think this is bad, you should have been around years ago. Taking another coaches players, and molding them to fit your strategy takes awhile. We are simply outmanned on bot lines , and will be the rest of this year . Whatever Frank Herron if being punished for is a real hit to the DL.O continues to brush it off when his name comes up. It's a good thing we don't have another SEC game this week. It will present a little longer to prepare for the real games.

Yeah this is bullshite. I'm 27 and my dad is 52 and he is taking this harder than I am. The older generation is just as spoiled now as we are they just don't want to admit it

I have to disagree, LSU as a football program is all time top 10-12. That is not an also ran. I'm pretty sure, that unitl 1990 LSU only had back to back losing seasons twice. Now I am not saying that the younger fans aren't spoiled, but to say this program was an also ran, I disagree.

Since the 1970s, LSU football has only been at a position of true national prominence (or on the verge thereof) when there was someone in authority above the football coach with a true desire and ABILITY to see us there.

That's been two individuals: Bob Broadhead (who got us to the verge with Arnsparger) and Mark Emmert (who got us there with Saban).

Lacking such an overseeing figure, we are doomed to second tier at best.

If we still had les we wouldn't have been run over last week ,when you run off coaches and bring in new coaches there is player attrition in this case , we have lost six transfers off the offensive line ,most of them would have playing time this year ! WE have coaches and now we have to let them right the ship .New talk of new coaches just give us more troubles ! The negatigers have punished me a enough , I don't want to hear from them !

Cholly Mac wasn't making 4 Million a year to go 8-4. The cost to attend games was next to nothing, and you didn't have to sit in hours of traffic.

The fact thats LSU was mediocre before Saban, doesn't mean we should accept mediocrity now. Saban proved what LSU could and should be.

We accepted the the costs of that because the AD was run well under Bertman, good hires were made, and there was ample success. I for one am less accepting of the cost now, because the results have diminished.

BS. I sat through Cholly and Curley and have no patience with this shite when it is obviously going to decline further before it gets better.

The administration is to blame for not transitioning away from Les faster and then for the process that brought us Ed O.

I have been through the bad times before and never want to go back, which is exactly where we are heading. The evidence is right in front of you.

You read my mind. I wish I could upvote this 100 times.

I go back a long way, and have seen some bad games and bad years. Saturday night was among the worst I've ever seen LSU play. Even in years with less talent, we were coached better and had the desire to play hard. Saturday we were embarrassing.

We are at least 3 years on a downward slide, perhaps this is the bottom, but we are at least 3 years away from relevancy. I was willing to give orgeron a chance, and now I see how bad he is. I waited 48 years for a second national championship and by damn if I am willing to quietly wait for the next when I see the amateur management of this effort. All Eva was a terrible hire, ask Duke if they miss him. Orgeron is a mistake and we are in the cfb wasteland due to penny pinching lightweights.

If LSU expects more from the fans than it did back then, shouldn't the fans expect more from LSU?

I wouldn't call it years of "sucking". With the exception of the 1990s, it has not been unusual for LSU to maintain winning seaswon records while being a member of the top 20 (and then top 25). LSU's 'place' in that group tended to top out around 15-20, but was rarely in the top 10. LSU's overall win total ranking is 16 (if you remove the Ivies from this list, LSU moves up to 12), which is indicative of what I'm saying.

The 2000s changed that and LSU was a more regular member of the top 10 rankings. Folks who came of age or fandom during this period could be lacking a larger perspective but to say that LSU "sucked" prior to this period isn't quite accurate. Sorry...

I'll tell you what this "older fan" remembers, and that's the 90s up until Saban when stud talent (Warrick Dunn, Ed Reed, Peyton Manning, Marshall Faulk, Reggie Wayne, just to name a few) went out of state on the reg.

Players like that who want to win and win big aren't going to stick around when better programs come sniffing around them from out of state.

If you aren't old enough to remember that, then a few more 30 point losses to lower-level SEC programs will get you a front-row seat to its return.

Chollly Mac had the same problem that Les and the current coach have.

The best in the business as a division rival. He was far from mediocre.
