Warren Morris got lucky with the wind blowing out and snuck one over right field in a hitter friendly park with a juiced bat. I regret nothing.
the wind was blowing in all game. that's why there wasn't any other bombs hit that day.
and he did it off an all-american pitcher that shut everyone down that year.

Also the same pitcher who had just struck out Tim Lanier who had been crushing balls in the cws

Shook Warren's hand at last week's regional. What a nice, humble man! Such a credit to LSU!

You do realize LSU wasn't the only team playing with juiced bats right?

The story they put together for the broadcast was stellar. I really had no idea how improbable it was for him to do it.
The story overplayed the improbability angle, imo.

Hey Sampson...I think you're overrated.
Posted on 6/10/17 at 10:02 am to MOT
Yeah, totally
Guy with a fricked up hand that could only bunt in every postseason game....hadn't hit a home run all year....batting in the 9 hole....against an all American pitcher....wind blowing in.....national championship on the line
Probably the most predictable moment in all of sports
What's wrong with you people???

Yes, he had an injury. No, he wasn't "only bunting" in every postseason game.

hadn't hit a home run all year....
Correct, because he had an injury and missed a lot of time. Not because he was some kind of slap hitter like they made it sound during parts of the show. He hit 8 or 9 homeruns the previous year.
quote:Yes, because he was just getting back in the lineup. Again, he was the leading hitter on the team the previous year and hit in the middle of the lineup.
batting in the 9 hole....
quote:All of this makes the story great on its own. They didn't have to make Morris sound like some scrub to make the story better. Hell he even hit a homerun in the Olympics not long after that. He was a great player who missed a lot of time with an injury and hit the most dramatic homerun in the program's history. That's a great story even without the embellishment.
against an all American pitcher....wind blowing in.....national championship on the line
