Do you know anything about his career outside of what they described in the show? No one disagrees it was an incredible, dramatic moment. The injury and the fact that it was his first homerun of the season made it even better. But they also downplayed his talent in order to play up the miracle angle.

"All of this makes the story great on its own. They didn't have to make Morris sound like some scrub to make the story better. Hell he even hit a homerun in the Olympics not long after that. He was a great player who missed a lot of time with an injury and hit the most dramatic homerun in the program's history. That's a great story even without the embellishment."
He hit 5 homeruns in the Olympics - in 8 games. I don't think they made him sound like a scrub, but the truth is that until that moment, he had been a different player all year. Early in the season, his wrist bothered him and he had no power. Post surgery, it came back slowly. The home run was the beginning of him returning to his true potential.

Name me one play in LSU history with a national championship on the line that was as climactic as that play ? Walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth in the CWS ?? Never been done before or since. Gtfo.

You and I might be the only two who get this. In a thread the other day I complained about the blatant lies they told in the story to try to make it better.
quote:
After Lanier struck out, one of the guys they were interviewing for the story, Ryan McGee (author of "The Road To Omaha"), said, "The air went out of the stadium, because guess what... Warren Morris is on deck. And bless his heart, he's hurt... and we don't remember the last time he got a hit that wasn't, you know, a bunt."
Nevermind the fact that Morris had 2 flare singles earlier in that same game!
It's a great story on its own. Just tell the truth!

Exactly. To the other poster's point above, it was the sign that he was "back" and it happened at the absolute perfect time. But he doubled earlier in the CWS and also in the Georgia Tech regional bashing. Difficult to do on a bunt. It wasn't like he was never going to hit a homerun again, but to hear them tell it in the story you wouldn't know he was a .350-.360 hitter with 8 or 9 homeruns and a pile of doubles the year before.

Ha yeah he grew up down the street. Used to play basketball in the drive with him when he was just a little guy. I'm aware of his career.

Because I know Morris was a hell of a player and not just some random 9 hole hitter who happened to get lucky at the right time?
So be it.
ETA: I'm going to believe that most of you just have terrible reading comprehension and that you don't really think Morris was as bad as they described in the show.

Still don't understand how you think they portrayed him as bad.
They literally called him the Tigers best hitter and they also mentioned that he did a great job exceeding expectations when he replaced the all American Todd Walker at 2nd base.
I believe they also mention that the Tigers were undefeated in every game he started.
The walk off is nothing if not great press for LSU and an excellent representation of Mr. Morris

Warren Morris got lucky with the wind blowing out and snuck one over right field in a hitter friendly park with a juiced bat. I regret nothing.
I see we have a new Rant idiot.

Need to link the YouTube video about one of the posters here and his dad at that game. I believe his dad died shortly after. Just to complete the feels.
I think this is it but I thought there was a little more explanation with it. Anyways, just watched it with my 1 year old son and he screamed when the crowd reacted to the homerun. That was awesome.
