Congrats your are so good you have no losses going into the semis so we aren't giving you double elimination like everyone else?
Come on now. That needs to be fixed. oh well ncaa tournament here we come
I agree. Let's go back and replay 2013 when we had one loss and arkansas was undefeated and we beat them in the semis en route to a win over vandy (who also got into the championship with 1 loss after beating an undefeated team.)
I'll bet you were furious then.

One of the problems of the current system not for the SEC but for mid majors is the fact that you can have a team dominate their conference wining almost all their games, but because they lost 2 in a tournament, or maybe even one game, they can miss the most important tournament just because they had one game, and a team who had a losing record during the regular season can go to the most important tournament when a team who may have won 70% of their games misses out.
I wish there was a way you could reward both the tournament champ and the regular season champ. Southeastern may miss the tournament despite being 25-5 in their conference in the regular season.

Since both teams have no losses?
LOL What?
Florida lost first game to Arkansas.
Let it be double elimination until the championship game.. since everyone else had to be double eliminated.. make Florida have to beat an undefeated LSU 2x's... Play them both today (if necessary)
then championship still tomorrow (single)

So is the ncaa tourny. What's your point? Everyone knew the rules when it started. Did you complain about it when LSU won?
LSU could lose a regional game, a super regional game, and an Omaha bracket game, then go two of three against an undefeated team, and be national champs. Pretty flawed, huh? LSU is the champs after losing four tournement games while the runner up has lost only two.

it was 8 teams through 2011 they expanded it to 10 teams in 2012 and 12 teams in 2013. At-least according to wikipedia.

And single elimination Saturdays began in 2012, the year before Missouri and A&M joined.

Honestly it should be straight single elimination. Save everyone's arms and still give teams a chance to play their way into the NCAA tournament. The only reason it's not is money. More games, more money.

And in the short history of this format 2014 LSU is the ONLY undefeated team to win. Every other undefeated team lost in the semifinals.

ok yeah the whole flip the bracket also
Posted on 5/23/15 at 8:47 pm to LaBR4
why we lost to Vandy in round 1 and beat them in the championship in 2009

LSU won the 1993 College World Series against Wichita State even though they had 1 loss going into the finals against an undefeated Wichita State.
Each bracket was double elimination......LSU lost to Long Beach State and fought their way thru to win the bracket. Wichita State breezed thru their bracket.
One game winner take all final because of CBS television.
These formats are nothing new.

pm game management was the reason for loss, putting in stallings really.

If LSU goes on to kick arse in the NCAA tourney what happened yesterday won't matter much, if at all.
Posted on 5/24/15 at 9:06 am to nolatrain504
they need to do it like the sunbelt tourney. it's double elimination on both sides of the bracket to see who makes it to the finals. then the final game is single. very similar to the w.s. without the 2 outta 3 for the championship.

It's flawed but better than the alternative of completely burning out all your pitchers right before the regionals. LSU has taken advantage of the format and suffered from it. It all works out.
Posted on 5/24/15 at 9:21 am to tadelatt
I disagree the tournament helps more than it hurts. All the teams that were in yesterday are in the NCAA tournament. It can strengthen your position and it can get bubble teams into the tournament. Where it can hurt is you use your arms too much before the real tournament.

The SEC changed the bracket a few years ago so that teams don't have marathon days in the cases of rain.
It's a meaningless conference tournament. LSU is a mortal lock for a national seed, the probable overall No. 1 seed and SEC regular-season champ.
Why in the hell is everyone upset about a conference tournament game? Next week, no one will remember a 2-1 loss to Florida. By the time you get to Saturday in the SEC tournament, most of the time the four teams that are left already have clinched an NCAA berth. The SEC routinely puts anywhere from 7-9 teams in the NCAAs so the automatic bid that goes to the champ is really unnecessary in almost every case.
It's one stupid loss with no more meaning than a midweek loss in March. Get over it.

Just for the record I think it's a stupid format...I had rather see it as a single elimination tourney or double elimination till the finals.
Posted on 5/24/15 at 12:49 pm to nolatrain504
I think letting more than 8 teams in the tournament is where the flaw is at. Top four from each division, then do double elimination the entire tourney, that is the way to go.
