So should they play three games on Saturday each? Making it six possible games?
Since both teams have no losses?

If you are going to have double elim to the final than you need to only have 8 teams. That would be a possible 6 games in 5 days for a tournament that only means something if you are a bubble team who can only make it by winning the tournament.

it would be a morning game plus an in necessary on Saturday evening. I think the format is good. It gives teams a chance to play into the tournament. But it also saves the arms for the tournament that actually means something. It's nice to get a SECt trophy but it's a lot nicer to get the national championship trophy.

It would be 4 games maximum on Saturday since one team would already have one loss.
It does piss me off that we (and A&M) have to go home with only one loss when both Vandy and Florida get to make the final with one loss.
But I do understand that the tournament is already too many games. The best case scenario is that you get a top 4 seed, and pitch your weekday starter for the championship game.
Maybe we can bump it to the same format of basketball. Single elimination the whole way, 1-4 with a double bye. 11-14 play day one.
It would drastically cut down the number of games. 1-4 would only have to win 3 games in a row, 5-12 would play 4 max, 11-14 5.

There really isn't much to bitch about, seriously.

This is what happens when you allow 12 teams into the tourney. They could reduce it but the SEC HQ is too worried Auburn and the Gumps will often be left out.

I don't have an issue with the format.
But it seems some here reacting to today's loss don't understand the format. LSU didn't play in a double elimination tournament because they went 2-0. If this was the regional, LSU would be playing another game. I don't think that's necessary in the SECT which is mostly for show IMO.

6 teams being left out is to much.

The purpose of the tournament isn't to crown the best team. The purpose of the tournament is to give bubble teams one last shot to make a case for the postseason. Once you realize that, the format makes perfect sense.

I think it's good to have double elimination, baseball is based on winning series all year. Even teams who are far out of the tournament can beat national seeds, the best teams in the country win 75% of the games.
Baseball is the one sport that one game shouldn't determine a national/ conference champion. If SECt meant more for post season placement it should be double slim the whole time, but because half the teams are already in the tournament I'm fine with it. If there was single elimination in the NCAA tournament I would have issues. Any team can beat any team one time, but it takes a good team to win a best of 3 series or double elimination tournament.

before Texas A&M and Missouri joined it was the same format as the CWS. Except the championship series.

Best explanation I ever heard right there. It also gives the really good teams a taste of tournament play similar to the CWS.

Man frick that. You don't want to make arms even more tired than they are before the regionals.

It's meaningless before the goofy schedule. Its only purpose is money. Be thankful nobody got injured.

It's fine the way it is. No reason to play even more games.
