The right to boo, Home Field Advantage and YOU

Do you have the RIGHT to boo?
Yes, you do. And I will defend your right to do so.
Is Joe Alleva threatening to boot you from the stadium if you boo?
No, he is not.
No one is infringing on your right to boo.
But SHOULD you boo?
No, you SHOULD not.
Why?
Because fans are supposed to be in the stadium to SUPPORT their team.
Believe it or not, when fans SUPPORT their team, sometimes it HELPS our team to play better and they win some games they might not have without the fan support. That's why it's called HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE. Teams with fans who cheer like crazy for their own team and boo the shite out of the OTHER team have a great HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE.
This isn't a difficult concept to grasp.
All Joe Alleva is asking you as fans to do is restore our home field advantage by doing your job and making a shitload of noise on Saturday. Channel your energy into making Tennessee feel unwelcome and cheer our team like crazy. Booing will do NOTHING to help propel our team to victory.

Tell them not to suck and no one will boo...

While I do believe the fans have the right to boo, I would hope they would keep it to a minimum. I am not sure if it does much good to have Alleva write letters & publicly discourage booing. I think most of the boos are directed toward Coach Miles & not the players.

Sure the offense is lacking, but we are the #9 defense in the country! That is FAR from sucking! I would rather win ugly as frick than lose by looking pretty. We are 4-0 and #10 in the country, if that sucks then maybe you need to find something else to consume your spare time.
Win ugly, but just keep winning!

You just finished watching the movie "Pollyanna."
Not Tiger Stadium
LSU must show some competence on offense this game, or there will be many boo's.......

And by booing, you think the players will suddenly snap to attention and play better? Booing is not some magic spell that you chant and then BAM! suddenly JJ turns into Michael Vick.

I don't recall anyone booing when the Defense or special teams were out there. Offensively, not so much though !!

Give it to Ridley 3 times, if no 1st down then punt and let the defense take over. After the defense stops 'em let PP take over. At least JJ can't throw a pick that way.

His interceptions to pass attempts is pretty high. 2 ints. while throwing for 96 yards is not good.
The thing people want to see is something besides the SOS they have been seeing the last 2 years, wildcat, bettter play calling..etc. at least try something..

Keep booing and they may suck for years to come. What top recruit would want to come to LSU if while on possibliy his only visit to LSU and Tiger Stadium he hears and sees the fans boo their own team? Good recruits=good teams that don't suck, so if you don't want them to suck in the future don't boo!

i did not boo last week, seemed like it was mainly coming from the student section.
But like one poster noted the booing in 89, fans could sense the demise of the program and they were right..
In this case fans can sense this could be a great team if we could get it together on O
But are fustrated because we are doing nothing new the past 2 years to improve or change things up..
we have awesome d and the best special teams I have ever seen, will be a shame to have a 3 loss team beacuse of lack of offense..
with all that said I don't want to sit beside anyone at the game that just complains and boo's..

On the other hand if you hear someone BOO Stand up and start chanting
"L.S.U., L.S.U., L.S.U."
Don't stop until the whole stadium is chanting
"L.S.U., L.S.U., L.S.U."
LSU fans are quickly becoming the joke many think Les Miles is; when he's gone we'll still be here. Let's just hope we're not like Nebraska fans after they ran off Solich wondering why no decent coach would consider their 'great' opportunity!

Personally, I would not boo a team, but I think the boos are mostly aimed at the coaching staff and Les Miles. I mean, he is the Top Donkey, right? No, it won't make a mediocre player suddenly change to a superstar, but it will get the attention of the Top Donkey. If the voters unite against an issue politicians trimble. I'm liking a head coach with a huuuuuuge salary to that. Hopefully, Les has received the message that the direction he was taking us is not so good. I think Joe gave him more than an open letter! If not, I pray for a Lesless era to come.
Posted on 10/2/10 at 8:27 am to pdxlsufan
I would tell Joe that if he had done his job last offseason and insisted that Crowton be replaced, that there likely wouldn't be a need for a letter asking us not to boo now.
Root cause and corrective action. Why are the booing? Because the offense sucks. Oh yeah - fire the OC. See how easy that is.

This would be a great idea (when we are on D - I think it's an unwritten rule you don't make noise while you are on offense until the play is underway/over). How great would it be if the stadium errupted in favor of the Tigers for this game.
Posted on 10/2/10 at 9:12 am to pdxlsufan
Bottom line, Alleva and Les wrote that letter together. Les is such a douche...he cannot take criticsm cause he is a self righteous idiot. As fans we see the same pathetic offense and we all know Crowton should have been fired last year and that we will lose to the big 4 once again. If you are happy beating the patsy's and losing to the good teams than go support Tulane. At LSU we expect Championships... We have the right to boo and will continue to boo. We are booing Les and Crowton and we know that we will lose if JJ continues to start.

The right to boo
Adolescents and liberal Democrats have a very difficult time understanding the difference between things they have a right to do and the right things to do.

And if by booing, a change is brought about that makes the team better, you are supporting the team.
Just being in the stadium is supporting the team because of the tickets you bought.
This is all terrible reasoning on your part. Your entire post relies on the idea that booing =/= supporting the team.
