The one thing about that game that stands out to me is how close that game was, given how much stuff went wrong for the Tigers. LSU lost a tight game on the road in overtime despite its best player fouling out, despite only 18 points on 7/23 shooting from Martin and Mickey, despite an opposing team hitting 4 threes at the worst possible moment, despite erratic play from its starting point guard, despite having to rely on Quarterman of all people for scoring, despite an opposing big scoring 5x his season average, despite turning the ball over 19 times, and despite shooting percentages of 36/27/57.

This team hung in there when everything that could've gone wrong did, and all TR talks about is how bad of a coach CJJ is. I say he did a great job getting the team to play hard and be in the hunt for a win against an SEC opponent when the team performed this poorly. Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce your way, but its great to see the Tigers playing hard and fighting till the end. This team will be special, and I for one am proud of the way the Tigers played tonight.

I agree in many ways it is amazing how close the game was. However, it was a bad loss in my opinion. Yes LSU didn't play well, but it was a game LSU should have won.

I'm not giving up on them either. JJ is the reason we all have hope for BB.

We'll see how this young team bounces back. I'm not going to stress over these losses unless they start piling on.

Still very early, they have time to get better. Still a great team and awesome to watch! Hornsby is clutch in my opinion.

In spite of all that Mizzou is an absolutely terrible team. At the end of the year, when bubble teams are compared "bad loss" will be staring at us in that column.

The remarkable thing to me is that we rebounded the ball with 3.9 seconds left in regulation, and didn't call our last timeout.

Couldn't believe it. Just sat there and watched clock go to zero like a biddy team.

again, it's NOT about the winning or losing last night. Teams have off nights...it happens.....but just watching them with no half court offense and no basketball iq, and poor fundamentals (including free throw shooting)...I just don't see how you call this team great. Any team that LSU plays that slow them down and plays smart basketball....LSU will be in trouble.

I was saying timeout, timeout.......then I just thought maybe we didn't have one. I love how the announcer was saying he did the smart thing by protecting the ball in case they stole it and made a shot.....LOL....yeah, almost 4 seconds.....don't try to win it on the road...lol

My one complaint is the lack of organized play on the offensive side of the ball. 2 bigs stuffed inside lazily sliding to the weak side and the 3 standing in concrete on the perimeter. On several occasions the shot clock was boiling down and the ball had to be passed clear across the floor because it was the only "open" lane. It just seems that a great deal of point scored last night were hard earned one on one baskets. With good ball movement and being honest on running half court sets the shots would come easier. I hope to see an improvement, go Tigers!

Best possible thing that could come out of it is MIZ starts winning a shite load of games Imo

To add to our RPI, of course.

Losing sucks, especially to a team like Mizzou, but bad games/bad luck happens to everyone. The real test will be how we respond. I'm willing to write this one off if we come back strong and beat UGA tomorrow.

I thought the same thing. It was Les Miles-esque

JONES is not smart enough to call a timeout with 3.3 seconds to go in regulation? That is pathetic and shows a coach who can't think under pressure.

Absolutely. Probably a great recruiter and decent practice coach, but when the game starts it is deer in headlights mode.

I did really like the play to tie it up near the end of regulation. Boy was it slow developing, but it worked.

THEY WERE THE REASON EVERYTHING WENT WRONG. I don't know if you watched the game, but Mizzou did not play particularly well either. So the silver lining is that even though LSU was completely careless with the basketball again; once again had no desire to close out on 3 point shooters; clanged FT after FT; As a whole played with little enthusiasm; jacked up 22 three point shots (shooting 27%); they were still able to stay in the game against a team that will finish in the bottom 3-4 of the SEC AND was missing it's 2nd leading scorer.

Yes, sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way. However, other times you bounce it off your foot, let passes that hit you in your hands go out of bounds; try to attack 1 on 4, etc. Sorry, but the fact that LSU was in the game with those numbers speaks more to the fact of how poor a team Mizzou is, rather than how good of a team LSU is or how good of a coach Jones is.

Agree we should not overreact to one game. Every team of 18-20 year old college kids will lay and egg once in a while. But I saw some things last night that were very disturbing which Coach Jones needs to address...
1. Grays attitude. He seems like a yo-yo...up...down...up...down. Start Patterson until his ankle fully heals or he gets his head on straight...whichever is ailing him. PG play is critical.
2. Interior defense - we are awfully lazy with lateral movement of feet. Our idea of D is let them in the lane and have M block it.
3. Offense breaking down a Zone - every team we now face will be in Zone until we figure out more crisp ball movement.

If they win 80% of their homes games and 40% of their road games, they will have a decent seed in the ncaa tourney. I think they will be ok.

but just watching them with no half court offense

Not true. LSU has spent more time in half court offenses than the last two years.

This team over the season shoots very well from FT line. If you looking at of the other games, you see this is an outlier.

The problem is that issues 2 and 3 that you listed were glaring problems last season (and really the season before). They have never been fixed because there is evidently no emphasis on fixing them

Sorry, man, there is nothing remarkable about losing to that team. We looked slow and uncoached. I dont find it remarkable to shoot poorly from all 3 categories and it still be close. Quite often a team will shoot poorly from one of those a night, but all three shows not enough practice this week (Mickey can hit a mid range jumper but not free throws ). Unless someone decides to lead this team unselfishly from the guard spot we are once again going to struggle to make the tournament. Hopefully gray can step into a facilitator\scorer roll, hightower can stop being a tard, and patterson stays consistent and penetrates.

JJ must call that timeout with 3 seconds left, hornsby and gray could have got off a quality shot. or drop it down low to mickey.

Dont know which coaching is worse, Tigers or Pels.
