So where are we now?

Supposedly, Alleva and Miles met last week about the future of the program, along the lines of “what direction does this go in if you’re still the coach?” and Miles agreed to open up the offense. But of course Miles now has the politicians and the school president on his side, and Alleva had to publicly announce he was the coach for next year – so whatever guarantees or representations Miles may have made are Miles’ to keep and not Alleva’s to force. And in his postgame press conference Miles hinted that yeah, maybe there might be changes to make…but not so much.

“The motor (Leonard Fournette) seems to be pretty stinkin’ strong,” he said. “But a serious overhaul seems to be a little much.”

So that’s the end of that.

Anyone with a brain could see that the media disaster (exacerbated by Les playing the "woe is me" card) plus the fact that Jimbo was wavering made this decision YESTERDAY.

Alleva was all ready to move on to plan B, but F King got scared.

Pretty much what we were told by sources.

That is part of the truth but with a slant. It was written to hang it all on Pres Alexander- in fact as most have suspected Alleva made a mess out of this and allowed big money donors to have more involvement than they should in the negotiation.

It all began to unravel and the university was taking a huge PR hit to boot.

Aleva had no plan B just like CLM does not have one. In the end the Pres had to salvage the situation as it became clear Saturday that our AD had once again proven the job is bigger than he is

What happened here?

How the hell could the athletic department let this happen?

The author gave no credence to this, which is in fact the more likely explanation.

Sounds about right. Obviously the Louisiana politicians are not in favor of LSU football. Or at least those that are capable of pulling the strings. Its also hilarious how bad the entire coaching search was...and it wasnt a search at all. Talk about some lazy arse people .

I can't wait until miles flirts with either Mizzou or USEe for a raise and a extension.

WHat are they supposed to do? The money people tied their hands. The athletic department had no say. Obviously the AD wanted a change.

I guess the only real crime was the extension and raise.

That the article even suggests this tells me it's trash journalism.

Exactly because the Hayride is a political hack.

Before anyone else is fired Alleva needs to go.

the fans, a large number of whom probably thought they were giving Miles a nice sendoff more than voicing convictions in favor of keeping him, a ride on his players’ shoulders, a televised rendition by Miles of the school’s alma mater – all of it good enough for the big screen.

The large sign: "Thanks for 11 Great Years, Les!" summed up the attitude of most of the cheering fans.

They were being good sports and giving him a nice sendoff.
