the rant shouldn't have any role in LSU sports. It's just a place we (the fans) can express opinions and blow off steam.

What is the rants role in LSU sports? and how important are we?

fosters negativity, period. everybody reads this website maybe with the exception of the coaches, and it's probably a guilty pleasure of theirs too.

tortures targeted players and their parents

turns off recruits

provides material for others to use against us in recruiting

divides the fanbase

If any of our athletes are reading this garbage and taking it to heart....they've got bigger problems than their own successes/lack of production.

why is that?

do random people you don't know get to watch you perform your real world function and anonymously tear you apart with criticisms that thousands of other people read and comment on?

i think you'd probably take it to heart

For disclosure, I'm 29 almost 30, and this is such a load of shite. People are inherently curious and love affirmation regardless of generation. You only need to see a Facebook with every generation that can handle a computer going to town on there.

Any coach or player who pays attention to things on the Rant hurts only himself/herself. As much fun as it is sometimes it reveals how many sick people there are out there and the damage they can inflict. Fun? Yes. Serious? No. Let's not over estimate ourselves.

So ranters are just ridiculous, but if you keep it civil and sort of objective, then the athletes shouldn't complain. You know they REALLY love it when ppl gush over them when all is going right. It's all good then. But at the same time, if you like the praise, then you have to suck up the just criticism as well. Can't just be one way.

The ranters are paying the high ticket prices, and as taxpayers, they're paying via taxes for the education and the coaches salaries. So the old saying goes, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Ask yourself, if you get Popovich, Jackson, K, and Self to watch the game, then have a private discussion about the game, I assure you that they could identify pretty much everything that went wrong in an honest manner. And much of what is being said on here would be pretty much in agreement with what they think....

Fair point. Then let's say this generation has been given the tools to publicly display that self obsession more than any other. Sure it may be accessible to older generations, but they are typically beyond that stage of development compared to an adolescent.

To be fair, this could be said of any generation. Previous generations just didn't have the ability to access the information in real time.

I agree on the kids...but the coaches are fair game.
