I know miles put himself on thin ice with the November performance, but the bush league way the coaching search/decision was made has made everyone around the program uneasy. This will have long term repercussions, not only with recruits, coaches, but eventually the money coming in.

Miles has the highest paid staff in the country and can't get it done. That's not on the admins.

So they are thankful that they still have jobs?

Ok....so you're saying you are a superstar at your job that would take a job at a place where the second you walk in your boss is publicly on thin ice?

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking here.

Was Kevin Steele a "superstar"? That's who Les hired last year, when he wasn't on the hot seat. Money isn't an issue, the admin pays more to our coordinators than any other school in the country.

Due to the public mess in November why would anyone leave a stable situation for this? If miles fails next year, I'd place more blame on alleva and Alexander. Can you imagine having to reassure current players/recruits/coaches?

BS. 58th ranked offense over 5 years, poor QB recruitment and stubbornness is not on the adm.

So all of that caused the embarrassment in November. Handle your business right like Georgia did. Not that hard.

I'm not a Pro-Miles guy, but all assistants have the Les Miles clause in their contracts. Steele's contract was only for 2 years. All contracts with the Les Miles clause gets them paid up for 6 months if Miles leaves for any reason and not for the duration of the contract. No big time program has this garbage attached to it. Whoever the next DC is, has to have the same contract he should expect to see at any other big time program. This goes for all the rest of our assistants as well. Did you happen to see the details of the contract Steele signed with Auburn???? It's ridiculous the benefits and guarantees he receives. Alleva better not Frick any more of the staff with this BS. He's hamstrung LSU's ability to hire on an equal playing field within the SEC.

And as much as I love Raymond and Orgeron, the next DC has to have the ability to choose his own assistants.

These two nuances is how we would up with Kevin Steele last year, and how Venables, Pendergast, Pelini, and/or Aranda will walk out of the building if we try and go after them in the same manner.

Aranda is the only Def coach to stay at Wisconsin; the rest of the staff bolted. He should be a perfect fit because he is not attached to a DL nor DB assistants.

The Miles clause was the hang up with Chavis, and coupled with short contract offers to new candidates was surely a sign he was already on the hot seat. The November stuff wasn't him getting "on" the hot seat, it was a full blown CF by the administration that has basically made Miles a lame duck.

Mile's own actions brought about the actions of Alleva. Did Alleva handle it correctly? No, but this is on the head coach. Again, winning solves everything and we got drilled by Bama, Arky, and Ole Miss. Miles seat is hot by his own doing. That's the nature of coaching at a top level program.

No one is denying that winning cures everything. When you aren't winning as much as you want you either make a change or show support to the current staff. This administration ignorantly decided not to do either of those things, and has consequently put the program in the worst position possible.

ETA: This assumes Alleva will handle the potential DC contracts the same way he did last year. The type of deal the new hire gets will tell a lot.

Yes, and the reaction by the administration has put miles in an impossible position for next year. I'm not going to defend miles for everything, but 2016 was supposed to be the year we make some noise. This year most were predicting 3-4 losses.
I'm just saying everyone in the administration should have been on the same page and handled business behind closed doors, and either stop undermining miles or fire him. If they wanted to play contract games, they should have fired him last year.
