Crooked arse shite. Ain't nobody coming on LSU campus and making money with out explicit consent. That consent would take FOREVER. You think the ABC board is bad? Start dealing with educational institutions. Especially ones that get 1 Penney from the Feds.

Sadly, you're probably right

I mean it's right there in the tailgating rules that for profit setups must be cleared through LSU sports properties.

We don't advertise our company at the tailgate because that is clearly stated as being against the rules. I really was unaware of the ability to purchase space for a corporate tent through LSU Sports Properties. I will look into that. The only thing is we are no Turner or Shaw(CBI) we are just a small family owned construction company.

We probably spend around 20-25 thousand a year between season tickets, tickets on secondary market, and catering. So I don't think I would cut into their profits, hell I figured they would encourage it. When my daughters walked out of the bookstore last week I was $500.00 poorer. I see it as bringing more money into the school, prior to having this available we showed up way closer to game time and spent a whole lot less money.

If they don't advertise at the tailgate how would anyone know they were for profit?

It's pretty clear what setups are done by outside "tailgate" companies.

They should have gone through the proper channels and they'd still be running their shop.

Were you the kid in school who told the teacher who was talking when she stepped out of the class?

Golfer, where is that. Before I committed last year I looked and didn't see that. I did ask if they could legally do this and was told that they had talked to LSU and they said they could. The guy told me that the folks at LSU thought it was a dumb business model but go for it. To be honest I'm not sure how they make much money there are only 5 of us this year and only 4 last year.

Golfer, I thought they were treating them like a caterer. Like I said if they are breaking the rules I have no problem other than the timing sucking. Of course with 9 inches of rain I'm probably bitching like a little girl for nothing. My people probably won't want to stand in the rain if we could be in a restaurant or bar.

LSU Sports Properties says they are breaking tailgating rules and won't be allowed to set up for the Auburn game

I posed this question for the advertisers of a similar service on here....they assured me that they had cleared it with LSU...I don't understand how they can profit off renting space that's not theirs to rent...they either have friends in the LSP or haven't been caught yet.

I was never guaranteed a space just that they would have the tents up somewhere on campus for me by 9:00 am on gameday.

The company I work for is not a Turner or Shaw either. Should you choose to go through LSU it will increase your budget significantly.

You can still go the route that you have done in the past just go through a local caterer. We used to hire a caterer to set-up just on the other side of the fence from LSU Sports Properties and never had an issue. We chose to go to the reserve spot so we could fly our logo and not have to pay the caterer to have someone camp out at our spot to ensure everything was secure.

Sounds more like your tailgate company is crawfishing because of the rain, and that they just are using LSU Sports Properties as a convenient scapegoat.

I'm thinking that a tailgate inside the L'Auberge would be good on a day like today....

Not really. Companies sign exclusive deals. Welcome to how the world works.

I don't know what or why LSU is doing it but if they are barring all tailgate companies at LSU that's kind of lame. My GF is an ole miss alum and when I went to the Texas game last year they had tons of people working for these companies setting up. Seemed like great deal. After having set up tailgates every week during my college career it sounded nice to just show up and party.

Sounds like this is an insurance liability issue. LSU won't allow another company on campus that isn't fully insured and naming LSU as an additional insured.

When I worked at LSU, I was the bad guy who called the police on these people or threatened them.

Sorry bros but what if the thing collapses and people got hurt? LSU could be seen as endorsing the company if they knowingly let them operate on campus.
