Although he can probably get the job done, the skill and interest in the team seems to be at a 30 year low. I'm not sure how he can recruit good players in a half empty PMAC. One more year to turn it around or he will have to go.

Too many nega-Tigers when rebuilding is taking place. Give Trent more time. The nega-Tigers were ready to send Les packing . He came roaring back and now has a SEVEN year contract with a huge buy out and is on track to be back in Atlanta and on to a NC. Let's be patient with Trent !!!

They prefer realitigers or perhaps he of little faithtigers.

Seems their reality turned out to be more delusional thinking than anything else as LSU finished as a Top 8 program.

Hopefully, Trent can mix in healthy, more experienced returners with some talented 1st year guys and give LSU a winning program with which to build on for many years to come.

There are no Negatigers /Realitiger or Sabanistas in Basketball. Miles is a Winner, Johnson a Loser.

There are a few Trent Johnson Apologists. But the huge majorority see that he was paid 3 Million over the last 2 seasons. He won 5 SEC games & lost 27.

$600,000.00 per SEC Win in Basketball.

Our goal next year is to hope for a break even sec record with no losses to Nicholls, NTx, etc

Bryant is probably not the savior. He will be the 1st Top 25 player recruited by TJ. One kid in 4 years is not going to save a program.

But let's have patience.

Based exactly on what?

He cannot recruit, coach, motivate, rally the fans, and is a jerk!

The biggest problem I have with Trent Johnson is the way he handled re-stocking the roster after his regular season SEC champs all left. Your comment is dead on. He had a house to build with land cleared and materials onsite and the only tool he has to start building the frame is a shovel. That's about how our roster looks right now. And that's all on him, as head coach.

That is a very apt term for Trent building the program with a shovel. There is no excuse for the total lack of talent that was put on the floor in his 3rd year. Shows no sign of being able to recognize talent or land it. OBryant is one guy a good coach and recruiter would be bringing in 3-4 top recruits to rectify the dearth of talent on the roster. Of course a good coach wouldnt have given half the scholarships to the players Trent chose to give them to and wouldnt be in this situation.

The man with the Johnnie Jones avatar. How many NCAA tournaments has he been to? He coaches in the Sun Belt, shouldn't he be dominating that league. After all, he's in Texas, it's such a huge state, players everywhere.

But, but, he beat LSU. So what? If he beats LSU next year, when Trent Johnson isn't having to play 4 freshmen and a sophomores in about their 8th game of college experience, then you might have a point.

Please give me your qualifications of a good coach that LSU needs to hire. Here's a few:

- had success in the NCAA tournament
- had success at more than one program
- had success in a major conference
- never been in trouble with the NCAA

How many of those fit Johnnie Jones? How many of those fit Trent Johnson?

realize that Louisiana has produced zero high school talent for the last two years, understand that this team was extremely young and will grow into a good team.

What do these two things have to do with one another?

Yes it does work that way. Billy Donovan of Florida is just one example.

He hasn't done anything to warrant me thinking next year will be any different than this year. I'm not saying he is a bad coach, or that we have bad players... We just have players who don't know how to play or compliment each other, nor do we have any players who can take the load off of another when there is a weakness somewhere.

LSU played with a roster full of freshmen, one sophomore, and a junior transfer. Unless those freshmen were all McDonald's High School All-Americans, which they weren't, then they need time to grow as a team, and improve as individual players.

Louisiana has only produced 1 four star or better player in the last two years, Trent signed him, and you guys cry that he is over rated. Trent has gone out of state to sign several players, yet you guys cry that we should be hitting all four corners of the continent to bring in the top players in the country.

Nobody likes losing, and this team has lost a lot in the last two years. But turn on your tv this weekend and see how many junior and senior oriented teams are still playing. That's LSU goal for the next couple of years.

His recruiting sucked at Stanford too. He left that team with less talent than Brady did.

Who better do you have lined up to take this job? You're wanting to take a proven good coach and replace him with a lucky shot in the dark at finding that diamond in the rough that's going to lead LSU basketball to the top!!

Look at the landscape of college athletics. Miami and Florida's football programs just hired coaches this off-season. They hired the coach from Temple (Temple has football????) and an assistant coach that's never held a head coaching position.

Slam dunk hires aren't the norm, and when LSU hired Trent Johnson, it looked like a good hire. Now give him a chance to build the program (after winning the SEC title in year 1, let's not forget that).

I don't have sigs turned on and if you care enough to do that it just goes to show me the type of person you are. I've never seen you post once on this board concerning the basketball team and now you want to be the "I told you so" guy. Give me a break douche.

Umm..might want to check my previous post as I have posted numerous times about the basketball program this season. My signature is from December, so I doubt I am just now becoming the I told you so guy.

i guess that guys a "true LSU fan" b/c he wants to keep comments like that around in hopes that he's right so he can crow about it later. I'm actually a fan of Trent, but if i disliked him, i'd rather my opinion of him be wrong (meaning he's a good coach) rather than prove myself right that he sucks. some fan

I've stated several times that I have not like Trent Johnson since the time he was hired. Nor will I jump on his bandwagon if he starts winning. Would you rather me actually stick to what I believe or jump on and off the bandwagon like most fans? If he wins, great, if he doesn't then he's not the right guy. Unlike the two of you I seem to be more realisitc. I support the program, and could careless who coaches as long as the win. I support the brand, not an individual who can be easily replaced.

So, we have little talent now. And little talent going forward, and need some great recruits to compete. Correct?

Couldnt there be some validity to why we have not a better recruit or three, so that we would not be so outmanned.

Also, my opinion is not based on the loses, but the complete lack of focus or competitiveness. This is unacceptable. Could any coach win with this team consistently, probably not. Could alot of coaches at least compete. Probably so.

Giving him next year is fine with me, but I dont expect any real improvement, and will eat all the crow in the world.
