Please keep all talk of how Auburn and the allegations regarding Cam Newton and how they will effect LSU here. Otherwise, go to the stickied thread on the SEC Rant.

It is highly unlikley that the NCAA could do anything to Cam Newton or Auburn before the SEC Championship game and LSU's best chance to go to the SEC Championship game is still to have Auburn lose to UGA and bama and LSU to win out.

Even if the NCAA did make a finding, they have reports investigations, etc which take place, which would never happen with in a month so any vacated wins would be after the championship game, and likely after a bowl game. Therfore, it won't affect our strenght of schedule,

Allegations involving Florida

Pay to Play

Auburn's stance

SI story

FBI investigation?

just to keep every seventh thread from asking the same question.

Obviously this is a good idea Suntiger - won't mean much without a sticky, though.

Unfortunately the NCAA is too slow to help LSU. Auburn will play out and play in a BCS game, maybe NC game. Cam will go pro in spring. Auburn will either have some championships on it's wall or will hear "beware the thumb" from bama as it's handing back it's wins.

If all this Cam Newton stuff is true, I think i'm almost willing to accept the LSU/Auburn losses in 2004 and 2006. Anything to embarrass Aubie!!!!!

Am I the only one who thinks there is somethng rotten with this whole thing? Why now? Why not at the beginning of the season or before? The academic aspect at Florida should have been out there long ago yet it comes out NOW?

My biggest fear is if the NCAA and the heisman committee freezes this kid out causing Auburn to lose only to find out the allegations were false or unfounded.

I just dont like the idea of LSU gaining off of allegations that could a kid suspended and causing Auburn to lose.

Normally I would completely agree, but it's Auburn. It's about time they get caught cheating.

This isnt just about Auburn though. The NCAA is going on a witch hunt ever since the North Carolina stuff came out. It went from a bunch of players going to a party in Florida to agents to academic cheating and so on.

Really its a panic attack that started back with Reggie Bush.

Yes its Auburn and you are probably right in that its time for them to get caught cheating. But it could easily be Georgia or Ole Miss or even LSU one day thats being investigated because of allegations.

I mean seriously, what do we know? Can LSU throw stones? How do we know our program is running a sister mary's foundation for the poor over here? How long do we have to wait before here stuff about Ryan Perriloux? Jemarcus Russell? Or anyone who sat on the sidelines or played during our national championship run?

At this point all it would take is for someone or something to step forward and say "player X from LSU took this or that from coach A or B in order to play for LSU". Is that what we are headed for?

Massive witch hunt filled with false and true allegations with only the innocent schools, players and fans getting caught in the crossfire.

JMO

The cheating stuff at Florida is probably being leaked by Florida people who don't/didn't appreciate the comparisons between Tebow and Cam.

In their mind I think the character issue makes them very different people and they wanted to draw a distinction between a guy they don't like and a guy they adore

The big issue for the NCAA and Auburn is whether he was paid to go to Auburn... the stuff about cheating is just a background character issue

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is that the NCAA has apparently known of these allegations since January, and Auburn has known about the story since sometime in the summer. The NCAA reacted very quickly when the allegations regarding the North Carolina players, and A. J. Greene came out, and yet they have known about a much more serious alleged infraction for 9 months and not done anything? I would think that the lack of action by the NCAA means they did a preliminary investigation and were unable to substantiate these serious allegations.

Only if all of it was disclosed when he applied to Auburn. Either he disclosed it, and Auburn academic authorities accepted him based on the disclosure, or he didn't, and he's guilty of academic fraud. If guilty of academic fraud, he should be expelled from the University. This is irregardless of NCAA rules on eligibility or not.

The NCAA knew about the Newton accusations before National signing Day. The Reggie Bush allegations broke in April 2006 for events that occurred from December 2004 onward. It just so happens that the NCAA dragged their feet for 4 years. You are talking about LSU players recruited 6-8 years ago. Do you really think something will come out now?
