He's a joke

Alleva has been sandbagging Miles for many months. It is safe to assume that if Alleva snubbed Miles at every opportunity and undermined his status within the department for his own sake, it is also safe to assume Alleva is no fan of Les Miles.

What if, just if, LSU had an athletic director who truly supported his coaches in every sport and worked to help each achieve their championship goals?

Alleva's baggage at Duke should have prevented him from holding his current position. He turned his back on the Duke Lacrosse coach and sold out to the media-led lynch mob of the players--his players. The boys were later vindicated when it was proven the accuser was lying about the alleged gang rape.
However, the damage was already done.

In this instance with Miles and LSU Alleva again demonstrated his inability to control the media. His silence regarding Miles allowed the talking heads to pontificate inside sources ad nauseum to the point where it was pure, unadulterated, uncensored nonsense at LSU's expense.

Miles survived the wave.

I'm not so sure Alleva will.

LSU may have found its weak link.

Moving forward it would be great to have an Athletic Director who is a Les Miles fan, and a capable administrator.

Vanity Fair estimated that the entire Lacrosse case, including the legal fees, settlements for the falsely accused players, and other public-relations related issues, cost Duke university $100 million. THIS IS JOE ALLEVA

We didn't lose a single recruit in the last 10 days. The two that dropped were gone long before this.

miles has the program trending in the wrong direction regardless of who his "fans" are. this is on miles. alleva is caught between the money and high standards. they didn't want to pony up and the fisher deal goes up in smoke. what is he supposed to do? make money appear out of nowhere? convince people that 8 wins is "good enough?"

if you want to be upset about alleva, here's the reason.

the thinking was, miles is great. losing him to ark is a double whammy because not only does lsu lose him but lsu has to play him every season. cave in.

Regardless of what you think of Miles, he's coaching LSU next year and currently has the #1 recruiting class.

The way LSU handled the last two weeks is embarrassing nationally and will cost LSU some of those recruits. For that reason alone, Alleva should either step down or be fired, because he damaged the University and its reputation.
