We will always have a inconsistent offense, look for the same or worse next year.

If you say it often enough, long enough one day you might be right.

This O is going to be exceptional next year, the way it was in 06 and 07 when we had an SEC level QB, and anyone who can't see that should bookmark this and we'll revisit this in a year and see who's right.
I like your post and honestly and sincerely do hope you are right. But if not, maybe the Tiger Band could start including this song in the gameday repertoire...

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!
When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

The fact is after two of our most exciting offenses in LSU history under Miles in 06 and 07 we had to shut down the O after the pick six fest in 08

Stopped reading here.

The reason for the pick 6 fest was the defense was so horribly bad, we couldnt stop anyone, and had to keep throwing.

If Miles doesnt think is was a grand idea to promote MalVeto, JLee probably is like we saw him in 2011 (with a solid D), for several years

You've got to be kidding me.

This wins the award for the dumbest thing I have ever read on the Rant.

Jesus Christ how stupid.

i love it when people just come in here and make shite up. Flynn threw the ball more in '07 than Lee did in '08.

not always. there were times when the defense was holding its own, and Lee was still throwing picks/ Crowton calling pass plays instead of playing to the D (SC and Bama come to mind). or calling pass plays that had shown to be INT-prone (1st play vs. UGA).

I'm by no means a Malveto defender (no pun intended), but Crowton calling plays for Lee like he was a 5th yr senior screwed him up more than anything IMO.

This could have been a DISASTER, but we won 10 games and threw for more yards down the stretch than we have in years, beginning against Alabama.

Take note of the fact that it was the Alabama game that LSU finally realized they had TE's & RB's that could be used in the passing game.LSU was 8 for 8 to the TE's & RB's (not counting TD to Clement that was nullified by a penalty)for 122 yds or 41% of the passing yardage. That is the game that everyone felt Mett looked like a QB.Amazing when you use all your options, how effective the QB becomes. Now if they continue to utilize all options and keep the coaching staff from making bonehead decisions like the fake FG on 4th and 12;then, things might just head in the right direction.LSU should have beaten Alabama and we could be playing for the NC.I know many point to the fact that we won 10 games but that is like a kid with 140 IQ being happy with a B average.

Pick6 #1 - thrown when LSU trails (5-7) Auburn; 7-3

Pick6 #2 - thrown when LSU trails (13-1) Fla; 34-14

Pick6 #3 & #4 - thrown tied with (10-3) UGA 0-0, another when trailing; 45-31

Pick6 #5 - thrown when leading (2-10) Tulane; 28-3

Pick6 #6 - thrown with LSU leading (12-2) Bama 14-7

Pick6 #7 - thrown with LSU trailing (8-5) Troy 17-3

LSU 2008 opp - 26.5 ppg; 2009 opp - 16 ppg; 2010 opp 17.8.

Defense was THE problem. Lee was the only reason LSU had any chance against all teams except Tulane. A RS freshman wasnt going to outscore the top-ranked opponents against that defense.

In 2009, with a much improved defense, LSU still lost 4 games, because we had zero offense. 2008 was on Miles' defensive choice.

And no one can even begin to complain about the 2011 offense, until we reverted to JJ

While I agree that the D was the biggest problem with the 2008 team, Crowton's inability to figure out how to stop calling plays that Lee wasn't comfortable with led to the pick sixes more than anything.

And I've always defended Lee, but you're forgetting about the Alabama game. The D played a phenomenal game, and Lee 100% lost that game.

Threw 4 picks, including a pick six when we were up 14-7, and of course the nail in the coffin by throwing a pick in OT, falling away from pressure which killed him his entire career against Alabama.

There were only 2 pick sixes he threw that were because we were in a shootout, the one against Florida and the second against UGA. The others came when LSU was very much in the game or leading.

That pick against Alabama in OT, to me, sort of set the tone for every season we've played since then, always dreading when the next mistake might come, and convinced our QB play couldn't win games for us against good defenses.

That is, until this year when Mett finally shredded Saban's D. An LSU QB hadn't done that since Flynn in 07, and even though we lost the game, I feel like we are finally out of the shadow that has been over our QB situation since that evening.

We had been playing O holding our breath for four and a half years, and we finally exhaled on 11/3. We spent the next few games fully catching our breath after a grind of a season, not to mention the previous 4, but I have never been more confident going forward.

This 2013 LSU football team is going to be very fun to watch.

This thread gets started every year. I've given up until I see.

But I will say 2014 might be the year.
