By saying that I mean at this point there is nothing those teams could do this week that would make them not be a top 8 seed

So you think the final national seed is down to Stanford and UK? One of them gets in and one of them is left out.

Let say:

-TCU is eliminated in the Big 12 tournament soon
-Tech is eliminated in the Big 12 Tournament soon
(one of these 2 is inevitable, because they are both in the losers bracket and will have to play if they win)
-LSU loses to Kentucky and gets bounced before the weekend
-Stanford sweeps this weekend
- UK wins the SEC Tournament.

Still think, with that happening, that it remains between UK/Stanford?

People who keep comparing LSU vs. Kentucky don't realize...

-LSU has the second most wins vs top 50 rpi teams in the nation. (only behind Florida)
-LSU has the seventh hardest schedule to date (only behind Florida in terms of rpi)
-LSU shared a regular season title with Florida in the SEC.

The SEC got 4 national seeds last year, this year they will get at least 2 and very well may get 3. If Kentucky earns a national seed (which they very well may) it will be from another team.

Also, since 2003 I think. Only 3 regular seaon SEC champions have not received a national seed. IT was something like 20+ Champions.

Yes, you are putting way too much weight in conference tournaments if you think otherwise.

From D1Baseball. We have a national seed locked up. Give it a rest people.

If you’re looking for a dramatic race for several national seeds over the next week, you might want to move on. With TCU taking care of business at California last weekend and LSU doing a clean sweep of Mississippi State on the road, two of the final three national seeds seem to be locked in, with the caveat being you never know what kind of curveballs the committee might throw at us. While the national seed race might not be completely filled with uncertainty, there is some when it comes to the final national seed. You have three main contenders in Stanford, Kentucky and Southern Miss, while it also would be wise to watch Virginia and Wake Forest in the ACC tournament, and potentially, Arkansas if it were to go on a hellacious run in Hoover.

Texas Tech is a lock personally.

TCU is that one team that if they are bounced today could be sweating IF Stanford and Kentucky continue to roll. TCU has been struggling lately and is without their best player to injury.

Oregon St., North Carolina, Louisville, Florida, LSU, Texas Tech are locks. TCU is in that safe spot right now.

But, the Cmte seems to be very much unbiased when it comes to the top 8. They seem to have no problem giving 3 or 4 seeds to one conference. I think they've left out the west coast entirely once or twice in the last 6 years. (too lazy to look up)

Last year the SEC got 4 national seeds and SC could've made a strong case as a 5th. Now they're going to be worried about giving them 3.

Yes, a few games this weekend does not erase a season's body of work.

Frankly, I just don't see how Kentucky (regardless of what happens tonight or the rest of the week) shouldn't be a national seed:

Of the national seed contenders only UF and LSU have played tougher overall schedules. UK played a significantly tougher non-conf. schedule than TCU (46 v. 129) and has almost the same non-conf. SOS as Stanford. Couple that with the fact that they have 19 wins vs. top 50 opponents compared to Stanford (8), TCU (14), Clemson (9), USM (8).

I just don't see how the committee can logically keep UK out of the top 8. If they did, then they would essentially be saying: SOS doesn't matter; who you play outside of conf. doesn't matter; how many good teams you beat doesn't matter. The only things that matter are not having too many teams from the same conf. in the top 8 and having the top 8 seeds at least somewhat spread out geographically

I agree. Right now North Carolina, Florida, LSU, and Kentucky may have the best resumes depending on the way you look at it. I've had Stanford at that 8 spot for now because we all know the committee doesn't hide the fact that they'll do anything and everything to try and spread the geography out to help west coast teams.

And with Marquess announcing he was retiring I think Stanford gets it. No way they dont give it to them if they sweep.

All you have to do is look back to Clemson last season to see that the committee also puts stock into the conference tournament.

I'm not saying that 7 of the 8 national seeds aren't pretty safely in. I'm just not ready to say that anybody, except 4 teams, absolutely are in and there is no way that things can change.

I'm hoping for the 6th or 7th seed. I'd rather face OSU in a 3 game set with every pitcher available.

Maybe you're right but pretty much everyone that covers college baseball nationally disagrees.

-Tech is eliminated in the Big 12 Tournament soon

-LSU loses to Kentucky and gets bounced before the weekend

-Stanford sweeps this weekend

- UK wins the SEC Tournament.

Who are the national seeds if this happens?

The same 7 that we've been talking about plus Kentucky. What would a Stanford sweep of Washington State do to improve their numbers over the other candidates?
