Every single god damn sunday for the past two years there are dozens of big timers tweeting and saying "how did LSU lose three games with all these players" and it is usually followed with a shot at Miles. He is also constantly mocked and made fun of for his stupid mistakes. Now all of a sudden it is this crazy thing that LSU would even fathom firing the guy. I just don't get it.

He wasn't constantly mocked. Moron rantards picked up on random people that said anything critical about LSU as confirmation bias for their irrational hate of the coach.

Do any of you follow college football outside of LSU at all?

I think the outrage has more to do with LSU being willing to pay the 15 million buyout.

Such a great point. How many times has the media and other fan bases made fun of Les Miles. All of the sudden he's a genius and LSU fans are idiots?

over the years and since the internet "journalists" have morphed into sensation espousing machines designed to get viewers for ratings or web hits.

ad revenue is king even if one has to "sell their soul" to get it.

Les is a media favorite and a HUGE brand. The guy gives them phenomenal ratings with his persona alone. Do people really think ESPN is looking out for LSU's best interest?

I'm on the side of "keeping Les if the right guy isn't in place.", but otherwise it's not outrageous to suggest possible change. Larry Coker's record was incredible too, but Miami's trajectory was blatantly obvious. We aren't even competitive right now against incredibly beatable teams

yeah, pretty funny...they've been laughing at Miles for years, making fun of his supposed poor coaching abilities, and generally saying he was a idiot in a good situation...now that LSU says, "yeah, you're right, we'll find someone else", they say we're idiots

for the record, I'm a big Les Miles fan and am not at all convinced we should replace him

Meh. I've seen a lot more about the actual firing.

The national media worships at the altar of Bama and Saban. You think they want the guy who can't beat Bama to leave? That what this is all about. More bashing of LSU, after they bashed us for how we've been playing with the same guy at the helm....

Not sure if you heard but the media can be hypocritical and disingenuous.

Yeah I just don't get it. Miles is not getting it done. Who can argue that? Why is it even considered crazy/strange/dumb to replace a coach that isn't getting it done.

I completely understand that you are someone ese might think Miles can turn it around. I get that. But it isn't like LSU is replacing their coach after back to back kick arse seasons.

Agree or disagree with replacing him is understandable! But to think you must be batshit crazy to replace him is well... batshit crazy.

C'mon. He's been the standing joke of college football for years.

I talk about LSU football here on the west coast anytime I can to anyone who will listen and I can't remember the last time anyone said anything positive about Les. In these conversations I find myself defending his tremendous character, but being unable to defend his gameday coaching ability.

He's well-respected as a person, for sure; but he's most definitely mocked for many things football-related.

If LSU fans expect the SEC or national media to be pro LSU, forget about that.

Remember the calls for LF to skip next season? Was the media concerned about Les Miles or LSU's then?

No, Bama wanted LF gone and put a bug in the media's ear. Also, you think Saban would give media access to any reporter suggesting this about one of HIS players.

Miles is not one of the elite few who had that power. Nice can have its drawbacks.
