well, saban never had an 8-5 season here, just his 8-4 season in 2000

2002

went 8-5 coming off a 2001 when LSU upset Tennessee to win the SEC. Although times were better than Dinardo it was hard to take LSU seriously as a power at that point I think... In 2002 LSU was blown out in their real road game at Va Tech and then faded hard down the stretch between injuries and failure to execute

Entering the 2003 season your expectations for the team were very much dependent on whether you were an optimist or a pessimist IMO

and don't forget matt mauck breaking his ankle in 2002 against florida .. marcus randall just struggled horribly the rest of the way that season ... and then, let's not forget the bluegrass miracle that year saving a win ..

I'm not one to normally call for a coach's head. Sat night did it for Miles though. 25 seconds left on the game clock? What was he thinking letting it run down. He has still not learned his lesson on clock management.

I will say that a 3 or 4 loss season might be acceptable for a rebuilding year. However, when you're paying a coach 4 million dollars a year and tickets are 45 dollars a game, we should be playing for a NC. Ticket prices aren't gonna go down anytime soon. If I'm paying that much for tickets, I'm paying to see a team win!

Tiger1919: Who are the other coaches that have won a NC in the SEC? Surely you don't count the ex Tennessee coach. He wasn't good enough for Tennessee.

The end of that game was a killer for me... epic fail on the part of the coaches

But regarding this:

There are two coaches in the SEC making more than Les' salary of 3.5 or 3.75 million... and a sprinkling of coaches around cfb now making that kind of money

Obviously they can't all be playing for a National Championship... they should however all be in charge of well coached teams and aside from pretty excellent special teams play on last saturday I don't think LSU played near their potential

Now that this thing has basically gone viral with the media there is virtually no way Les can recover from this. This incident will be with him for the remainder of his career and I think it is just a matter of time before he is gone from LSU.

I certainly understand your point but I think you're overexaggerating a little bit. He made a BIG mistake in ONE game. Joe Alleva isn't going to fire him over one game.

And another question to all of you. How much of this is actually thinking Les will eventually be fired and how much of it is YOU wanting Les to be fired.

He's not the best, but he damn sure ain't "the worst",either.

I'd easily say he's probably one of the 2 worst in the BCS era.

Saban had an 8-5 season in 2002. I swear every year the legend of Saban grows. The man only lost less than three games ONE YEAR while at LSU.

His record by year was:

2000 - 8-4
2001 - 10-3
2002 - 8-5
2003 - 13-1
2004 - 9-3

let's see the list of bcs era coaches to win a championship reads:

fulmer
bowden
stoops
coker
tressell
saban
carroll
brown
meyer
miles

when you go back and look all but saban and meyer have taken some epic shots across the bow for their coaching decisions (maybe saban has to some extent but not like say carroll lately or brown for years before he won it all). Some said Bowden hadn't really been coaching for years... just designated duties to his assistants

I'm not really wanting to defend Miles for the idiocy at the end of the Ole Miss game... it's just that meltdown time should be near over by now and it's time for people to turn the page and look ahead best they can - instead of self flagellating about how bad things are

How many of you Aggies would love to have our record for the last five years. In fact I think some of my Aggie friends would love to have our record for the last two years.

$45 tickets: I wish someone would list all the Schools that charge $45 or more and list their records as well.

You can't fault people for not reading the whole thread. It's just too much work to go through in order for them to post.
