For hate directed at QBs while they were still starting for LSU, I would have to say Booty in '99 and Lee for the Tech game in '09 are neck and neck, and nobody else is even a close third.

Jamie Howard following 94 Auburn game.

Up until his senior year, Howard was reviled. But he had a decent year his last one and redeemed himself.

Booty, though he had a decent year in his last before he took his lack of talents to the NFL, he never stopped being an a-hole.

I nominate J. Lee.
I don't understand why ???

Hate? Who hates him? I am guessing that most of the "criticism" he gets on here is the same type of things he hears from his coaches.

Howard had to change his dorm number due to overwhelming amounts of death threats.

Can Booty, Lee, etc make that claim?

This is clearly sarcasm, or you are just ignoring Howard after the 94 Auburn game. And Lee got more "hate" after the 08 UGA game than the 09 Tech game.

Lee's not even the most hated QB on the roster right now -- that would be Jefferson.

All time? No one went through what Howard did, but I think people have come around on him a bit. The only answer is Josh Booty. F that guy.

After Auburn that doesn't surprise me.

Good lord could you imagine the reaction if something like that happened in this Internet age?

For those who are too young or have had therapy to forget. Fom Wikipedia.

Auburn was on a 14-game winning streak and ranked #11 in nation under coach Terry Bowden when LSU traveled to Auburn in 1994, but it was the Bengal Tigers who led 23-9 entering the fourth quarter. LSU quarterback Jamie Howard threw five fourth quarter interceptions - three returned for touchdowns - as Auburn extended their winning streak to 15 games with a 30-26 win. Auburn, with star running back Stephen Davis, was held to a mere 165 total yards, and Howard received death threats after the loss.

There were people saying JJ should be convicted, even if he was innocent.

I can't see how it is even a debate.

The "love" he got his senior year was really just a result of the backlash from 94.

People felt bad about how much they hated him.

I would also like to add that Lee and Howard are comparable in some ways.

Both were highly touted guys out of HS.

Both were thrown to the wolves early because of no other options at QB.

Both were mentally shell-shocked for the rest of their career as a result.

Hopefully Lee can put together as decent a senior campaign as Howard. . .or maybe we can find a Herb Tyler

Old Timers will remember Carl Otis Trimble in the early 70s, who was hated for his skin tone.
