Does anyone know the farthest a mens college basketball team has jumped in one week? I tried Google but could not find anything.

With wins @Vandy and vs. #9 Kentucky with a game @Florida left it seems to me like LSU, with no votes in either the AP or Coaches Poll, could make a meteoric jump maybe even a record.

From week 3 to 4, Syracuse went from no votes to #14. They beat two top 25 teams in back to back games.

They may get some votes, but not top 25 yet

This isn't Week 1, our earlier losses still count. The voters need to see consistent improvement before they'll believe in us again and start ranking us. Only a week ago, the consensus was that this team would miss the tournament... it'll take time.

LSU has a history of tripping over its own feet after an emotional high. There's an old saying "He who thinks he stands, take heed lest he falls." This can occur in both the skating rink and on the basketball court (well, I guess you can add the football and baseball fields to that as well--I'm sure some games come to mind).

Luckily a few national guys are pumping the "LSU isn't the same team they were three weeks ago" narrative

Who cares - polls are irrelevant. Focus on doing well the rest of the season and convince the committee to invite us to the dance.

Polls are meaningless - just a bunch of voters guessing who's better than who, and filling out their ballots in 5 minutes. Ignore them.

Yes, I am not worried about polling. We just need to keep winning and make the NCAA tournament. Good question though.

Definitely a concern, which is why I'm glad we're playing in Gainesville next, as opposed to someone like MSU at home. Hopefully it'll help keep up some of the intensity after the UK game.

While it won't happen yet, pollsters will constantly be extra-aware of what we do because of Ben Simmons. We will get consideration where others wouldn't, especially when we're on the bubble. B'lee dat.

We played Vandy on Saturday. New polls come out on Mondays which means this week is only UK and UF

Those five losses are like an anchor that will hold the balloon down. LSU is more likely to grind their way up the ladder, step by step, rather than climbing four rungs at a time.

Or, just win the SEC tourney and get the auto-bid.
