They have played us some tough games in the past 10 years and obviously killed us in 2014. But the most recent history (last two seasons) shows a valid reason why these games wound up close, and it isn't necessarily that they "played us tough".

People seem to forget that in 2015 we led them 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-6 going into the 4th quarter and held on to win 21-19. Last year we led 23-3 at halftime and won 23-20. We were in very firm control in both of these games.

The issue with these last two games was the incredibly idiotic coaching of Les Miles. He chose to completely take the air out of the ball and play not to lose, leading to multiple 3 and outs and simultaneously giving hope to MSU and ceding the momentum to them in dramatic fashion. Even though we won the games I was livid after each one because we had our foot on their throats each time and instead of crushing them, we let them come right back to life and nearly win the game. It was sickening. But it seems all I read about here is how they "always play us tough".

I think it's safe to say that if we have firm control of the game this Saturday in the 2nd half, we aren't going to start playing not to lose and hand them all the momentum and hope they need to come back.

No lead was safe with Miles.

It has done a number on us.

That time has passed and we need to move forward.

To do that we need to break it off in STATE.

There's no win that was ever uglier than the 2015 game. Letting a 21-6 lead completely evaporate, hanging on for dear life, and depending upon a missed FG for the win!

We should have seen that from GAME 1 of the Miles era on Monday Night Football vs. Tennessee. Up 21-0 at half. Lose the game in OT.

Maybe Vandy in '97. But point well taken. '15 Moo U is a contender.

You sir are incredibly stupid.

Please tell me that you are lying about being an
LSU alumus. The first hint is that you don't know the difference between alumnus and alumni.

Do you recall why the game was played on a Monday?

LSU Jax....the point you bring up in your original post is probably what I love the most about this staff so far. Never pump the breaks! The cardiac cats were too much for me

In that game, it was still 23-6 with about 5 minutes left in the game. They got a TD off of sort of a fluke play, then got an onside kick and scored again. The offense, of course, had been shut down since half time, since we had a lead.

He is a 1970s style coach and always will be. That's OK if you have talent that is so superior to the the opponent that you can just run roughshod over them, but it's almost impossible to get enough talent to do that to every team. Alabama is really the only team that can. A 21-6 or 23-6 lead is not insurmountable like it was for Michigan in the 1970s.

Winning a football game by 3 points is not being "firmly in control"

Having a large lead late in the game is.

The time they "beat our arse"... Dupre makes a great catch as time expires and we win that game. But make no mistake, they beat our arse and were firmly in control... just like us the last two games
