I was showing a friend why statistically Miles went with Jefferson in the 2011-12 BCS title game.

4 games against Bama:

Lee

24/58 316 1-TD 7-INT 68.7 rating

-27 yards rushing

JJ

38/57 375 2-TD 1-INT 130.0 rating

101 yards rushing

When something dawned on me. Look at those numbers. Both were for 4 games (JJ didn't play against Bama in 08, JL didn't play in the BCS title game)

Four games.

Just reminded me how terrible that offense was, and how good Bama's defense was.

Anyways, thanks for reading

Lee played scared against Bama. People don’t like to admit that tho.

Lee just looked like a deer in headlights in 2011 version of the offense vs Bama. As a true freshman he had the picks but the offense did outgain Bama in the overtime game. It was the scheme that was the problem in 2011. You could have put almost anyone a quarterback that game and the results would have been the same.

Lee - Dude broke a career record for Pick 6’s in a single season.

That game ruined Les but let's not forget prior to the Burrow led team a Les coached team had almost every offense record.

There was some small school's mike LB who said the Les Miles and Cameron offense was the most basic he ever saw. Said there were using LSU's tackles as their read to blow up predictable running plays or jumping those 2 man push routes that Miles was infamous for. U-High ran a more creative offense so LSU literally ran the 2nd best offense on its own campus.

Without Lee, LSU would've never started the season 9-0. Go back and watch replays of the games after Miles pulled Lee as the starter. The offense immediately started to struggle.

Jefferson was the best choice.

That was an all time great Gump defense.

In fact. the entire team was close to an all timer. If Miles' hadnt totally outcoached Saban in the first game, it wouldve ended similarly the first time.

2008 pick 6's broke Les

After that season, Les did NOT want to throw the ball.

I recall 2009 still threw about 340 att, and likely 400 att inc sacks, scrambles etc.
Admittedly not much choice with that poor OL.

Meh, he was clutch when called upon in 2010.

And probably 3 (sarcasm) of those were thrown more than 2 yards downfield. The big WR screen season.

Almost all of Lee's INTs in 08 were caused by throwing late over the middle on 3rd and long

So Les decided to stop throwing over the middle.

2012, the season after the 21-0, Mett threw for 352

Wanna know how dumb Les is? Jordan Jefferson in 2009 had the same amount of pass attempts as Zach Mettenberger in 2013. That’s how stupid Les was.

Yeah the pocket wouldn't hold up for many 20+ routes.

There is still NO EXCUSE for not putting Lee in the game when you saw how absurdly ineffective Jefferson was, especially since you wouldn’t have been in the NCG in the first place had it not been for him.

We can spin this record round and round and it’s still going to come back to Les Miles Ego and hard headed obstinance.

Probably because the Bama defense was in his face about a second after the ball was snapped, which also explains why JL never saw the field—not to mention the historically poor performances against Bama.

People love to “what if” this decision like they are Nostradamus, but honestly—yeah, it could have been worse with JL.

No one wants to hear this. Les Miles went into Alabama with an inferior team and beat Lord Saban. Saban choked and got out coached by Miles the imbecile. Alabama missed long FG's, why was Saban trying them ? People ask why we didn;t beat Saban twice. The questions is how could Miles beat Saban at home once ? It was the game where every game in college foot ball didn't count. Just wait until the 12 game idiotic playoff and we have to beat Fla/Ga 3 times in a season.

Actually during his tenure Miles '06, '07, '11 and '13 offenses owned the LSU record book holding 3+ of top 5 spots in different categories.
He just couldn't adapt to the spread trend.
