I'm referring to free throws only. And what I mean is your percentage can increase dramatically with a couple of simple adjustments. Also free throws should always be worked on at the very end of practice when you're tired and have end of game exhaustion. Just saying it's a teachable skill not a natural gift.

It's both a teachable skill and natural gift. Like I said I learned under Palubinskas for a few years who was a fantastic shooting coach and individual teacher. However, the best coach I've ever played for really didn't get into the details of shooting the basketball. He just recognived who could shoot and thus he ran offense around those people which really was more of a "culture" of understanding who needed to shoot the basketball. He simply provided us the tools to get open and get others open.

Shooting free throws at the end of practice does help (I guess) but not much. You won't go from a 70% shooter to an 80% shooter by shooting 10 free throws at the end of practice (with the rest of the team standing around the lane). That's ridiculous. It take THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of repetitions.... which take time that isn't available with college practice time. It HAS to be on the players own time.

I Know Ed more from his paint/artwork side on motorcycles than from bb, but the guy is an absolute machine at free throws. Perhaps JJ should "encourage" players to seek out EP's help.

Yes the guy is uber talented with paint! But his shooting knowledge/technique is second to none. He was a good player at LSU and actually set free throw records in international play when he was younger (for Australia).

With that being said he played for Dale Brown and never was really taught the concepts of winning basketball and the fundamentals and culture of the important aspects of said winning basketball.

Yes you're right not all coaches place the same emphasis on it in practice. But in Jones case he's had 5 years of very poor FT shooters so he needs to prioritize it. Not doing it has produced the results he's had. Any shooter will tell you that they're not born that way it takes work that includes fts. And when you're doing things like fading or leaning during your release that can be corrected Jones just doesn't do it. I'm not sure he knows much.

But you replied here more than once, without contributing to the topic. Ooh wait let me guess, you're one of those?

Not sure what you mean. But football and basketball dominates alit of the talk here and on an occasion revruiting comes up. And the difference is that when I disagree with someone I explain why (my opinion). Whereas, you have sone who likes to disagree without adding no substance to the topic....therefore I try to be consistent unlike many who post here.
