Why?

There are people out there who can recruit as well as Les

There are people out there who can coach better than Les

There are people out there who can game plan better than less

there are people out there who can do all three better than him.

so shite then man...there must be a lot of teams that have been more successful than LSU has been over the last 11 years...I tell ya what...go ahead and name them off, the programs that is, that have been more successful than LSU during the tenure of Miles. According to you, there are plenty of coaches better than Miles...so surely there should be plenty of programs that have performed better...

So, come on Sammy.....name them all.....hell, they don't even have to be in the SEC....but go ahead and include all of the SEC programs that have performed better than LSU over the last 11 years.

nice try.....

but Saban's second best year at LSU was a 3 loss season. I'm just not sure why you clowns try to spin it so bad.

Saban had 1 good year at LSU.....in a time when the SEC was not nearly as competitive as now.....

It's fricking hilarious watching you guys try not to admit that Miles won more than any other coach at LSU...ever....it really is. It's like you would rather be set on fire than to admit the truth.
I'm not shitting on Miles. My post was 100% factual and in response to some jackwagon that guarantees LSU will lose with a new coach.

I don't agree. The right replacement can be very successful and can help restore pride. Nobody is asking for a dynasty. But relevance isn't too much to ask for.

...at a school that was 3-8 the season before he took over.

The OP is right - arguing that Miles' successor will likely have a hard time replicating Miles' success doesn't necessarily mean people are arguing that Miles should stay.

This situation is a whole lot different, and harder to win in, than what we had in 2005. If we don't get the right guy and win big right away, I am afraid this program will take a serious hit in recruiting, and not recover for a long time.

I disagree. The incoming coach doesn't have to win big immediately, everyone knows that we are depleted in talent in certain areas - plus, it takes awhile for a coach to get his system and players in place. We just have to show an improvement in on-the-field discipline, and better game planning and adjustments - these things will make us competitive in games where we may be physically overmatched. Make no mistake about it, Jimbo can recruit too, so I don't think we'll be overmatched for long.

They looked pretty damn good in 2012......in fact, they were a minute away from likely winning a NC...but chavis went prevent.

So, quit using 4 years...hell, didn't we win 10 games in 2013 despite the terrible D? LOL

I think it's time for a change...and make no mistake, it will be.....but to think it shouldn't be difficult to get someone to come in and win more than him is pretty stupid.

It will literally take a hall of fame effort to win more than Les.....and you can't cherry pick your years...you look at it as a whole.......

Wait did LSU win a championship before les got here, or did Les win a championship before he came to LSu

I am not saying its ALL LSU.

But we will make a good coach look great. Les is making a great school look good.

Point is, you dont get top 5 classes simply by being in Louisiana. The man recruits really well

In his defense he did make changes

He USUALLY made changes...just too late. Everyone could see Chevis wasn't cutting it at PR, no change til after it cost us a game. Everyone could see STs were killing us this year. Still no changes to date.

The wasted TO/delay of game issue...been here since his first year and no measure has ever been taken to try to fix.

The whole first half 2011 vs Bama, JJ wasn't cutting it...no change made.

Look, Les Miles is a great man but a subpar coach and his stubbornness has led him exactly to where he is right now.

Sure, but they're all entrenched at major programs.

Anyone arguing that there is a sure-fire replacement waiting in the wings is daydreaming. The last two major successes for programs at our level were Meyer and Saban, and both fell into their lap. If LSU misses on Fisher or Kelly, we could be FUBAR.

Point is, he makes up 75% of these top classes by signing guys from his state, guys for which he has no legitimate instate competition. The Louisiana signees will usually put you in the top 25 of the recruiting rankings alone. We are the only power 5 conference team in what is a talent rich state.

And of course you have to sign other guys to be top 5, but he has to go out of state a lot less to do that than other prominent schools like Bama, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Clemson, etc.

Not acknowledging that simple fact is silly.

He's an excellent recruiter, at a school with an excellent recruiting base. He sure as he'll didnt recruit like this at Oklahoma State, he didn't even recruit as well there as Gundy for goodness sakes.
