I hate to be a downer, but there are some similiarities between this years Georgia team and the Tiger team of 2007.

First, they graduate the best QB in the draft. Maybe the first pick over-all. But his successor is a 5th year senior, with great leadership ability. Sounds familiar.

Caleb King is a damn good running back. I hope that people don't sell this guy short. He will probably be better than knowshaun.

The offensive line was banged up last year. They should be better if they stay healthy.

The defense was very young last year, especially the defensive line.

Oh yeah, AJ Green.

It just looks eerily similiar to us in '07. There is no substitute for good leadership, and Cox looks the part, as Flynn did in '07.

Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, but it seems that everyone is chalking that game up as a victory for us, and I think it will be a tougher game than expected.

UGA '08 D = FAIL

The '08 Ga defense does not compare favorably to the '06 Tiger defense. They should have another solid club but I don't see them challenging Florida in the east. Definitely not the most imposing game on LSU's schedule. In fact it's not the most imposing road game IMHO. That would be Bammer.

playing on the road in Athens is as tough as you're going to get in all of college football.

and what has Cox shown that makes him similar to Flynn? did he get valuable pt in a bowl game that he won an MVP for? not all 5th yr 1st time starter seniors are battle tested

Georgia will be a surprise team in the SEC. They return Sturdivant, Cox will be a very good player for them, and they will benefit from decreased expectations. I think that they need someone to step up at running back but UGA will be good next year.

Your similarities are pretty good except for the fact that the 2007 Tigers didn't graduate the best quarterback in the draft.

In 2007, Russell was the highest pick in the draft.

In 2009, Stafford will probably be the highest QB taken.

He's talking about the teams after these two quarterbacks left.

You'd think after our last few trips there, our fans would realize this.

Don't worry about it. This LSU team looks slot like the Florida team from 06' which I am guessing you know also won a national championship. And don't get to worried or excited yet, it's still about 190 days away.

We should've beaten them last year, when they were playing with all of their stars. It will be a tough game, but if we don't GIVE them 17 points off of turnovers, I think we win.

The key to GA's season next year is getting the lines healthy again. Not having hardly any DEs healthy enough to practice and play for long stretches killed the pass rush and really tested the secondary. Coupled with Owens being gone and Weston having to play hurt most of the season, the DL really wasn't the strength it has been in the past. Having a healthy OL will really help the O keep motoring. King will definitely get his chance to impress in Spring Ball with Samuel not playing, but he will have to hold off a bevy of talented guys this Fall. Cox does have valuable game time experience- he came in late and led UGA to a 4th quarter comeback win against Colorado. However, I also think he will be tested by the younger QBs. I realize it probably looks different from further away, but the injury situation last year was beyond ridiculous and led Richt to stop full tackling in practice which came back to haunt them in games. As long as the guys make it back to the fall practice in one piece, I am confident that they will be just fine at the end of the season.
