I loved the call. All month long Les Miles and the team had to hear how we were going to get blown out and there was no way our defense could handle the option. I believe that Miles called that fake punt in a way to "stick it" to all those haters who picked Georgia Tech and didn't even give us a chance. I loved the call!

CLASSLESS.
You're winning by 30+ points and have the game in your pocket. It was unnecessary, and pointless.

That's something Pete Carroll would do.

im in the middle on this. it definately makes a point and sticks a knife in GT, but also it makes us look classless. you can look at two ways. 1. were competitors or 2. were assholes

class is giving to a worthy charity, helping out a sick child, stopping to hold the door for an old women...this is football.

When Joe Gibbs told his QB to kneel down instead of trying to score at the end of a game vs. Detroit, Chris Speilman called timeout. He didn't want Gibbs pity.

I don't want an LSU coach that worries more about being "classy" than dominating the team across the line of scrimmage. The other team gets a chance to stop us on every play. If they don't, too bad for them.

I vote 2.

Actually, it pissed me off, but I am of the opinion that, classy or not, we are on the field to play the game to the last whistle. Class is good, but you can neither legislate it, nor whine about it if it's absent. You just play the game. You fight fire with fire.

Were I Johnson, I would have instructed my DE's to hit Jefferson every single play, penalty or not. Not intentionally dirty or deliberately injuring him, just hit him hard every play he's in.

I guarantee you Miles would have taken him out. To me, pulling starters is more of an effort to keep them from getting injured in meaningless time, and to get your 2-deep PT.

The fake punt was classless, but didn't hurt my feelings at all. We're big boys in a big boy game. However, I can be just as classless as the next guy when it's time. Last night was time, IMO.

Also, there was no guarantee the play was going to work. We only scored 3 friggin points in the second quarter. It wasn't like we were running up the score at the end of the game. We were trying out plays with young guys who needed the experience our last game of the year. It was up to them to stop it. We were just playing football. You didn't hear us whining like little bitches when they were saying we didn't belong on the field with them before the game. Now that's classless.

the object of the game is to keep the ball and score or keep your opponent from scoring. I've never watched a game where the point was to punt the ball away whenever you get the chance.

Class is subjective. I'm not worried about these perceptions.

I didn't have a problem with the fake. We didn't score but were able to eat more time off the clock without giving them the ball.

I was damn glad to see LSU control everything about that game. Come on August 2009!

i think if we would have scored some TDs in the second half then the fake punt would have been wrong...we had scored 3 points

Its called ball control and not giving your opponent an opportunity to score and try and get back in the game. Do you think GT would have simply thrown in the towel had Les punted. No. They would have tried to score quickly and then maybe an onside kick to get the ball back and try to score quickly again. LSU should not get into the habit of only playing 45 minutes of football regardless of the score.

Well here's the thing, if the situation was reversed, we would be the ones screaming foul on that play. I choose to believe it was more about clock management/ball control then some big "hit you when you're down" call. When you are close to a win, you want to do everything possible to make absolutely sure you stay on top till the time runs out.
