OK, but the statement basically argues that the the game will be easy, yet is called easier than it looks. So, the game should really just be a cake walk.

Of course we want to win every game. But the emotional component is very important in the college game (not as much in the pro game).

It's extremely difficult for a team to play at maximum physical and emotional intensity for all 12 games. That's why we often see a team play "flat" after an emotional win the week before - it's just not possible to be "sky-high" every single week.

A great example is the Kentucky game in 2007 that we lost in triple OT. We had to go on the road to play KY a week after our very, very tough emotional win against Florida. We were flat as a pancake against KY, which was entirely predictable. You also see it in bowl games all the time. One team with higher aspirations gets put in a mediocre bowl, and they just don't want to be there. That was part of our problem last year against Clemson. Florida also had that problem last year against Louisville, which was a team they couldn't get pumped up for.

i was listneing to moscona interview some UGA reporter last week. he made it sound like LSU was way down the UGA list on order of importance or threat. he seemed way more worried about Clemson, USC, and Florida. named tennessee as trap game. i hope they overlook us.

schedule favors them a bit. they get UNT the week before and we get AU.

Georgia's D is supsect after losing Jenkins, Jarvis, and Ogletree. I don't know how any fool over there could be singing praises.

What does this mean? I like to think LSU wants to win all their games. If not, what's the point?

What about the 42pt second half that LSU put on them in the SEC Championship game.... with JJ as qb?

Is there any journalistic integrity left in this country?
Anywhere?

To be fair, 2 years ago has no bearing on this season.

The result of the game.... no.
The philosophy of the teams, players still on the team, changes in quality of position personnel, etc. those are all valuble in comparison.

How can they go from being outclassed to making LSU an "easier than it looks" team?

fify

UGA has gotten mighty confident with their "near loss" to Bama in the SECCG. Of course, they wouldn't have even made it to Atlanta if not for the lovely "bridge schedule" that erased their thrashing at the hands of South Carolina.

i believe mr bradley is not familiar with the fact that, with one exception, we have owned uga for quite awhile. mettenberger isn't shaky and we played tons of freshmen last year because we knew we had a lot of guys going pro. i do hope the uga players and coaches think we'll be an easy game tho.

This game against UGA is setting up a ton like the last time Bama went into UGA. It was widely thought UGA would just steam roll Bama. If UGA makes it a blackout game the rout will be on.

HAVE A LINK? I can't find this on AJC site.

I actually quoted this from the paper-version of the AJC. Yeah, I'm old.

To the other posters who astutely pointed out the author might be biased .. uh, yes. That's why I noted the AJC in the subject and again in the body of the post. I assumed all who read it would recognize that point. However, I guess one should never over-estimate the critical thinking capabilities of The Rant.

Last year I caught a couple of games at Front Page News in Little Five Points. It was ok; might try a couple of other places this year:

Where to Watch LSU around the World

Atlanta:
- Downtown: Front Page News (Little Five Points area)
- NW Atl/Cobb: Copeland's (Cumberland at Cobb Parkway)
- Gwinnett: Sidelines Grille (Old Peachtree at Satellite Blvd.)
- North Fulton: Buffalo Wild Wings (Mansell Rd in Alpharetta)

LSU has a head coach named Les Miles. Coach Miles has a peculiar lexicon and jargon, part of which is describing a player's / person's desire as a 'want.' It was an attempt by me to play upon Coach Miles' idiosyncrasy.

Les Miles Quotes

Obviously a bit too subtle for some.

I saw most Rantards praising him to be the greatest analyst ever. Then hell pick UGA at gameday to win, and theyll all hate him again.

Well duh, you and HCB should have took the post as a topic of conversation on the LSU UGA game. It gets us talking about a game where our "new" offense can really send a point to the SEC. Go to Athens, rip out UGA's heart their original heir apparent Mett, and jump into the top 5.

Per Mark Bradley, this morning's Atlanta paper,

It's no surprise that he would favor Georgia. They have a loaded offense and it's "between the hedges."

Regardless, Bradley is homer and has never been fond of LSU. It's almost predictable that the Atlanta media will poo poo LSU. I remember prior to the 2003 SECCG, driving into Atlanta, the predictions on local radio were absurd as if the Tigers were Ga Southern.

It's a game that is winnable for LSU but you'd have to favor UGa at this point until we see more of the Tigers.
