This happens every single game. Hell, last night there were a few in my section that left with about 3:00 left on the clock. It absolutely blows my mind.

so should the LSU students who leave at halftime of football games give their tickets to old farts who stay until the end of each game?

if your suggestion is valid for hoops, then the above should be valid for football.

To students? No. If you live on campus, why would you leave?

You're comparing apples and oranges. If you live across town and the football game is in doubt, it's understandable you would leave. Trying to navigate 100,000 people (at least 25,000 cars, probably more) and limited access. Why sit in traffic for 1 1/2 or 2 hours and get home close to midnight or later if the game is no longer in doubt?

Basketball games, you can park in certain spots and be in and out of the lot within 15 minutes of the time you leave your seat in the PMAC. I stayed for the entire S. Carolina game and was on Burbank 15 minutes later. There's also a tenth of the people at a basketball game that there are at a football game.

Because the "geezers" already know the outcome of the game before it ends. They have been going to the PMAC for many decades and see the same crappola from the team.

I'm not saying stand up the whole game. However, when big plays are made its human nature to stand up and applaud.

Not all of us "old geezers" are that way. (My wife and I are in our 60s.) I stand and cheer and the old geezers around me (sec 102) do too! Been going to LSUMBB games since I graduated in 1973 and no one has ever asked to sit down.

Thursday night I did not notice that many people leaving early, but the ones I saw were all families with kids.

Don't paint with so broad a brush.

There's a reason basketball arenas have seats. While you certainly don't have to sit the entire time, this standing up and unrelentingly jumping up and down the whole fricking game is an unreasonable encroachment on the other ticketholders' rights to enjoy the game from a seated position.

I guess I'm a geezer based on the >30 bar. I sit on the front row of the 300's with my wife and two other "geezers" and we stand for the big plays and rallies. I arrive early and don't leave until the end, and usually stick around and watch as the team goes over to celebrate a victory with the students. I see young/old arrive late/leave early. The only time I get annoyed and act like a grouchy old geezer is when some idiot who clearly isn't watching the game decides to stop and chat with friends sitting at the top of the 200 section, blocking my view. And very typically these are people younger than me. So blow your age discrimination out of your 20-something arse, and when your balls finally descend and grow some hair feel free to complain in person to the people griefing you at the game instead of coming here like an anonymous chicken-shite and complaining to nobody.

BTW, I have never seen Dale Brown stand up OR cheer at a game. Not saying he doesn't and he's certainly earned the right to do whatever the frick he wants at a game. I just find it odd.

No dude. I have been going to many games evey season since I can remember and most season ticket holders and ones who have been around since deaf dome and dale brown. Hell even my extended family has had same tickets for 30 years until they got moved because the student section moved. They don't cheer. They just watch

We need all the fans we can get for hoops. I think you might see some new fans come in to see Ben Simmons next year, at least I hope so. I think they will be rewarded.

this. It is much more impressive when the entire stadium stands up for a big play and starts a rally. My biggest pet peeve are the fans who stand up and scream to coaches and players as if they need input from idiot fans to know they "suck."

BTW, you

Personally i've never understood how some people cannot yell and sit down at the same time. I guess some people are just more talented than others.

My first LSU game was shaq's freshman year and I've been a season ticket holder since the sweet 16 team that included the stro show. I've veen there for horrible and great years. So for the guy who said I'm in my early 20's, get your facts straight. I was taught to respect the elderly and I do. I held my breathe instead of making an arse out of myself. I stand snd cheer only on big plays. I've always been passionate sbout the game Iof basketball and our lsu basketball team is no exception. Just wanted your opinions. I def won't let a few bad apple old goats ruin the experience. Geaux Tigers ! Beat Bama!
