I'm thinking that 13 days to play the CWS is a bit much, especially at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. I love college baseball but, shouldn't they condense the tournament?

Yes, old format was better. Winner take all on a Saturday afternoon.

3 game series is fine. Glad they made that change.

Just need to fix the park and the bats.

The Advocate has game 3 at 7 tonight, the NCAA site says 1 EDT, noon for us on ESPU, 1243 on Cox.

Had to edit, they changed it to ESPNU

Always does. Bad format. Need to take 2 weeks off from work to follow your team.
They could play 4 games a day early on for one thing....or at least no fewer than 2 on any day until finals.

You're still paying attention?

They either need to rotate the park to where the prevailing wind blows out (not goiing to happen), or move the fences in another 10 ft. People want to see runs and not small ball pitching duels. At this point, a pitcher's mistake is greatly nullified with the current setup.

Im thinking that without LSU there I have zero interest in that event.

It's always too long, too boring in that spaceship field

I don't necessarily want gorilla ball back, but other than basketball, college sports offer higher scoring, often times more exciting games to make up for the fact that you're watching amateurs play.

Aren't they still playing baseball?

That's why the WCWS is easier to attend... yes, it's a different game because of the pitching, but this year's event was 7 days in length with the same amount of teams and bracket format. If it wasn't for the rain on the first night, this year's finalists would have actually had Sunday off.

Makes it much more affordable to go and support your team.

I wish we could have played for 13 days.

Actually, the original format before that one was 8 teams, no brackets and strictly double elimination. I still prefer that one, though if we're going to do the bracket nonsense, I do prefer a 2/3 series to a one game title format.

The Omaha locals feel the same. At one of the semi-final games on Saturday there were fewer than 5,000 people in the stands.

I still watch some of the CWS even when LSU is not in it. Naturally, if LSU made it and was in the finals, it would be a glorious 13 days.

I've enjoyed watching Morrison of CCU and Kaylee of BR.

With that being said, I am tired of seeing this guy and CCU's Russell softball jerseys, arm sleeves, and chains.

Not me. Thoroughly enjoy watching this guy play. He plays hard and probably gets the absolute most out of his talent level (or at least has in the postseason).

they should go to single elimination for the first game. Start Friday evening with game 1 and then 3 games on Saturday to close the first rd. Then do best of 3 for each of the winners Monday - Wednesday. Then best of the final starting Friday. Max 7 games over 9 days.
