Brought that name back into the program….now playing like the days of ole Dale.

Great Recruits….bad basketball. Surprise UK like the old days…then lose the rest.

The curse is real.

LSU team Dale Brown took to Final Four had less talent than many LSU teams, including this year. They played way over their expectations, for sure.

Dale Brown is a legend.

A flawed legend, but still an LSU/SEC legend.

Wade is a joke.

Brown clearly had his faults, but you don't go to 13 NCAA tournaments (including 10 consecutive trips), win 4 SEC titles, win National Coach of the Year and go to 2 Final Fours by just beating UK and playing bad basketball. He still has the 3rd most wins for a coach of a program in SEC history behind only Adolph Rupp and Billy Donovan. He underachieved obviously in some years and overachieved in others.

Not his first two years. But they are in collapse mode right now for whatever reason.

Dale Brown once had a team with what, 4 future NBA players and couldn’t get anywhere. Routinely had great talent get ousted early, then make a run with a 6’6” white dude playing the post. He did better with less, about the same with more.

. I was and have been a critic of Brown over the years for his inability to coach talented teams- he was always a great PR guy who could recruit but often struggled, especially in his later years to coach up the players. I’ll never forget his inability to take the team with O’Neal, Jackson and Robert’s to one SEC tourney win and past the first round in the NCAA tourney. I was also very disappointed in how he left the program in such bad shape. However I have WAY more respect for him than Wade. Wade hasn’t proven anything other than he can recruit using questionable if not outright illegal tactics. He hasn’t proven he can coach at all. So in my mind Brown>>>>Wade and it’s not even close.

If you don’t think Brown didn’t have players paid, then you are naive. Perfect example was Howard Carter out of Crenshaw in the 80’s.

Howard Carter was local, from Redemptorist I think. John Williams was from Crenshaw in Los Angeles.

Dale's teams were much better than this one.
