Based on Ole Miss ranking this week, I don't see how they could possibly justify taking Miss St out of the top 4 if they finish with one loss....said loss would presumably be to Bama. And if Bama wins out (I hope not) they will also be in.

So if the committee is cool with putting in 2 or even 3 SEC teams in the playoff, how would their rankings look this week?

The exact same as they actually do

I think what we are going to learn is the selection method by this group is worse than the BCS-

I never understood why they felt the need to scrap the BCS completely

Just take the top BCS teams epanded to 6 not 4 and there are your playoff teams

Truly I don't give a shite what a committee tells me. The SEC is king. Even more evident this year. Look at the shite show anyone outside the SEC is. Who does Fla St play?? Who does Oregon play?? And Notre Dame being in any top anything in football is always laughable. Even though the barners choked it up last year our reign isn't over by any stretch period. Miss St (my pick to win it all) may actually hurt some of these teams they are trying to push onto the top 4. Like Bama did Notre Dame a few years ago.

how is that the committee's fault?

The committee shouldn't have released rankings so early. And they should only be ranking about 8 teams. The committee has no responsibility to rank the teams in order, only to choose 4 to play in the playoff. They are just giving people something to talk about at this point.

And I still say that it is a lock that the top 4 teams will be the same ones that the BCS system would have chosen.

It could be the case, but I also think they know the scenario is unlikely. No way they set it up can guarantee 4 conference champs in short of making it a requirement The question in this scenario becomes, when they say they are putting huge emphasis on conference championships do they mean it

I am of the opinion that they mean it and that they will put a 1 loss conference champ in over a 1 loss SEC non champ

i think you are right...they are putting a major emphasis on conference champions, its kept other conferences out of the big games in the past when upsets have happened but not ours yet....could happen this year with Georgia...Trying to make our strength of the past (conference title game) our weakness for the future...I cant stand the 4 team playoff, its too few a teams...has to be a minimum of 6-8 for it to work I think it should be the power 5 champs get automatic bid and then 3 at large....8 is a nice even number, id even go with seven, highest rank conference champ gets a bye...doesnt matter to me...But I do think there will be some fireworks at the end of the year..LSU, Arkansas gonna ruin someones season...haha.....And I think Georgia pulls the upset in the SEC title game...

disagree ... if the NCAA wanted that to happen, they would have left the formula to do the work.

The committee will insure that 3 SEC teams NEVER reach the final 4 .. no matter what the strength.

this will increase viewing markets, advertising and advertising profits ..
the undisclosed GOAL OF THE NCAA
