I wonder if the NCAA has access to the alleged tapes that are supposed to exist.

It takes a certain amount of luck to win a NC with the way a BCS Champion is decided. And then there are breaks that come your way. Just ask Colt McCoy and Alabama. Colt McCoy plays against Bama and Texas probably wins the NC.

they will just "lose" their wins. if they had to forfeit all of their wins, imagine how fricked up the computers would be now that it's week 11.

Auburn could find out that there is damning evidence and decide to sit Cam. If Cam is benched - I sure don't like Auburn's chances of going undefeated.

Even if they don't, it sure is quite a bit of distractions heading into games vs. Georgia and Alabama.

Whoa! Stop right there. Imagine LSU getting a golden opportunity to replace Au in the SECCG and blowing it by losing to (___inset team here___). Now THAT would be embarassing.

Well, it's not like the illegal player had anything to do with the outcome of the game...

I think this Newton thing has legs. Usually when the info trickles out and gets more factual and impactful as things progess, there's an issue of fact. When the biggest news is the first story it usually dies off.

This deal gets better every time something pops us. First it was a gold digger making accusations and now it's university employees stating they flat out said they wanted more than a scholly and that's where it crossed the line.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the NCAA jump on this thing hard after what they just did on the USC/BUSH issue.

The NCAA moves so slow you wonder if this could be done before SEC champ, probably not. However, if Auburn goes on to win SEC, then beat Oregon or TCU in BCS, then what a mess!! So they blow out Oregon or TCU 35-10 and then NCAA says later in July 2011, "whoops, we're sorry AU QB is ineligible so we're sorry that TCU team that got the mess beat out of them are National Champs now. I mean do you even hold a victory parade for that (if you're a TCU fan)!! What a mess they got to handle this fast. Call in the feds, too much money involved.

Could be a rogue booster, or Lowder himself.

If you are going to put up $200K to get a player to come to your favorite university, do you think the smart thing to do is to CC the AD and the head coach?

Hell no. Just do it and keep your mouth shut. Pat Dye may know something about it, but I can believe that Jacobs and Chizik have no idea and are speaking honestly so far.

Pretty sure LSU would still have a loss to Auburn, that game wouldn't be erased for us, but for them. In the past, has an opposing team been given a win in these situations? I can't think of one.

this thing will be decided before the SECCG. There is no way that the NCAA will have a possible Heisman Trophy winning QB on a team that is playing in the BCSNCG with the chance that they may have to vacate both the win and the trophy.

Our opponents' records minus Auburn:
6-3
2-7
7-2
5-3
3-6
6-3
5-4
7-2

Total 41-30 = .577
w/ Auburn: 51-30 = .630

Not sure how much this would hurt us in the computers, if Auburn's wins are forfeited.

LETS NOT PUT THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE. if au is disqualified, then I believe the pigges have only 1 SEC loss and thus the game with them would be for the west title. this would give them a lot of incentive. lets not sleep on them yet.

Under this scenario, I would guess that there would be a poll-voter backlash against LSU that would prevent them from climbing up the polls. You'll have numerous media opinions coming out saying we can't let someone in the MNC thru a vacated loss, especially when Oreg, BSU and TCU are all undefeated.

Kind of like how the voters pretty much prevented an OSU v. Mich rematch and instead pushed UF into the MNC.

Of course, my scenario relies on Oreg, BSU and TCU all staying undefeated unless the anti-SEC backlash is strong enough to promote a one-loss BigTen or BigXII team over a one-loss SEC team.

when wins are vacated it is as if the game was never played.

forfeit, means one team receives the win and one receives the loss.

USC had to vacate their wins the other teams were not given W's for their L's.

There is no way anything big happens to make him not play or Auburn vacate win before the season is over. Period.
